Reading RoomπŸ“š

A huge thank you to Grace’s mum and Orla’s gran for visiting us today.Β  We loved hearing stories about Elmer the Elephant and Kittie Lacey, The Fairytale Hairdresser.

Remember we will have a Reading Room every Monday afternoon so if you would like to bring your own book and a small cuddly toy to read with then pop them in your bags.

Happy Birthday πŸŽ‚

A huge thank you to Violet and Alice for making me the most delicious chocolate birthday cake πŸŽ‚ Violet also asked the class to sing β€˜Happy Birthday’ too, thank you girls for being so thoughtful πŸŽ‚πŸ₯³πŸ’

Money

Over the last few Thursdays we have been learning about money.

We can:

– identify all coins and notes.

– show different ways of making the same total.

– record amounts accurately in different ways.

– give change.

– calculate a total amount spent and calculate change.

Today we used our money skills to visit the Cross Arthurlie Fair! We had to pay the stall holders to play the game, stall holders had to calculate change and winnings. We all had such a fun time at the fair.

Chinese New Year πŸ‰πŸŽ†πŸŽ‡

Today we celebrated Chinese New Year. We enjoyed listening to the story of the Chinese New Year Animal Race. Β We learned that the rabbit came fourth in the race and that this year is the year of the rabbit. πŸ‡

We also learned that to celebrate the New Year, Chinese people make and light paper lanterns, clean their houses, join in dragon dances, watch firework displays, eat together as a family to name just a few things.

We made our own paper lantern pictures using tissue paper and then made a black silhouette rabbit to finish it off. We think they all look fantastic.

December fun πŸŽ„

In French, we learned to say Merry Christmas πŸŽ„Β and used our new vocabulary to make a Christmas card for our families.

We also learned how to say lots of colours in french and used this new knowledge to colour a Christmas picture.

During muddy movers we loved exploring and playing with the frost and ice.

Finally, I’d like to say a huge well done to each and everyone of Primary 2/2 for their fabulous nativity performance. I think you’re all superstars 🌟❀️

Directions

We have been learning to describe, follow and record routes. We have been giving and following oral directions including right and left turns through right angles. We now know a right angle has 90 degrees. We can write instructions for a route and program BeeBot to follow our directions.

Book Week Scotland

We all had a fantastic day celebrating Book Week Scotland. We enjoyed snuggling up with our teddies and cosy jumpers to read our books with Primary 7.

We have been learning about giving and following directions and programming BeeBot with directions so we showed off our skills and taught out teddies how to do it too. πŸ»πŸ’œ
