A Morning in P1/1

As we can’t invite our special adults to see what we learn and how we learn in class, Primary 1/1 have created an interactive video of their classroom to share what a typical day in school looks like and sounds like.

The short video has hotspot (+ signs) that appear throughout the clip. Please click on these to see photos, videos and some information.

Learning in Primary 1 is a balance of child-led and adult-led learning and exploring.

We hope you enjoy the video,
Miss Payne

October Update🎃

October has been a busy month for Primary 1💡! The class have had the chance to work with our Active Schools coach, Chris Rose, for some P.E. lessons. Everyone enjoyed taking part in the games on a Wednesday morning and are looking forward to working with Chris again!

Primary 1 have been working on their fine motor skills through engaging with Funky Fingers activities which they are having lots of fun with👍🏼.

We have been continuing to explore different things during Muddy Movers and in October we worked hard on balancing. The class worked in teams to create bridges on crates and over muddy puddles and tested their strength by completing the obstacle course.

The class have been enjoying our new construction bricks and building different things in the construction area🚧!

October was finished off with some Halloween fun where the class did a ghost writing tricky words task, played games, won prizes and had an afternoon of fun🎃🏅!

September in Primary 1⭐️

This month, Primary 1 have been working very hard. We have had a focus on Literacy and Numeracy, the class have enjoyed learning their new sounds and engaging in number work.

In Maths we have been working on numbers to 20, 2D shapes and patterns. The class have enjoyed taking part in learning through play.

We have created patterns with big and small pegs, cubes, shapes and even toilet rolls!

The class are very proud of their work and are enjoying seeing it displayed on our walls.

The class have liked learning their sounds in a number of different ways. They especially like using cotton buds and paint to form their letters and our Hungry Hippos game to say their sounds to each other.

On Mondays we do Muddy Movers. This is a great chance for the class to explore the outdoors, work together and discover different creatures. Last week, we discovered a family of frogs living in the tires🐸!

This week was Maths Week and this is our winner for the homework challenge, well done!🌟

Some Reminders:

  • For those who haven’t already done so, please note that wellington boots are required for a Monday along with a bag to keep these in for Muddy Movers.
  • Tricky words are given out every Friday. Children are asked to please bring a tub to keep these in, separate from their homework bag, so that they can practice these throughout the week.

We are looking forward to seeing what October brings for Primary 1😀!

Google Classroom

Hi Primary One,

The attachment  below is a short video to help you find your Google Classrooms.  The children in Primary One will have two Google Classes.  One will be used in class and to help support homework in the day to day running of classwork. The second Google Class is only to be used if you are off school related to COVID-19 .

There will be lessons posted daily for Literacy, Numeracy and Health.

Thanks

Miss Galloway

Welcome to Primary 1!

Primary 1 are settling well into our new classroom and are enjoying exploring their learning in different ways.

We discussed our rights in class and decided on how we and our teachers can uphold these rights. We also used these to create our classroom rules.

In class we read ‘Have you filled a bucket today?’ with Miss Payne and spoke about how we can be kind to others to fill their buckets. Primary 1 have been doing some excellent bucket filling, keep up the good work!

We created these nature inspired owl pictures with Mrs Berry

This week, we have learned the sounds ‘s’ and ‘a’ and have enjoyed learning the actions for these.

The class have started to learn French and are enjoying doing a miniature book study on Madeline. This week we painted some Madeline inspired hats!
