Young Leaders Training

Our Active Schools Co-ordinator, Chris, has been in getting us trained to be Young Leaders. This means we will have the responsibility of planning, organising and leading games with children in Primary 1, 2 and 3.

 

Fire Service Visit

Fire fighters from Barrhead Fire Station kindly came in to talk to Primary 6 and 7 about firework safety. They answered some of the questions the class had then we all got a turn of using the hose and being inside of the fire engine. Thank you Barrhead Fire Station!

Pantomime

M&M Productions came in and performed their Jack and the Beanstalk show. What a great performance!

Today, Primary 1 came dressed as Super Heroes, Pirates and Fairy Tales.

We had a Carnival theme outside with lots of different games and challenges, it was so much fun☀️.

We had some fun activities inside. We made hero masks, crowns and a key ring!

The Hulk came to visit🧟!

Primary 7 hosted some sports fun in the football pitch and on the grass.

We had a special visit from the ice cream van🍦.

Primary 1 had so much fun at Sports Day. All of the houses tried so hard at all of the activities and races🏆!

Well done everyone!👏🏼

In May, we were learning all about People who Help Us. We worked together to come up with some questions to ask the Emergency Services🚨. The class loved hearing the answers from the Fire Service and Paramedic and even had the chance to look at and try on a real fire fighter’s helmet👩🏽‍🚒.

The class enjoyed P.E. outside and playing different ball games in groups⚽️.

May and June have been so busy and we have been working very hard! See the next post for Sports’ Day🏅!

March and April have been busy months in Primary 1 and the class have all been working hard🐝.

Before the Easter holidays we had a Fairytale themed topic. A special, secret visitor came to our classroom each week to leave us treasure chest clues for each Fairytale we learned about. Below are some pictures of when we learned about Three Little Pigs and tested out technology and design to decide which materials would work best to build a house🏠.

We also learned about The Gingerbread Man and experimented some more with different materials we could use to help him get across the water without being eaten by the fox🦊!

For Jack and the Beanstalk we planted our very own beans which are continuing to grow, the class are enjoying looking after these🌱.

In Maths we have been learning about doubles and number bonds, using some different ways to practice these🔢. We are starting to learn about time and measure🕒📏.

We have been working on our sounds and Tricky Words lots!

In French, we have read two bilingual books. Arc-en-ciel (The Rainbow Fish) and Les Couleurs d’Elmer (The Colours of Elmer). The class have loved exploring French colours with these stories. We enjoyed some celery printing art to give The Rainbow Fish scales and drawing rainbows with big chalk outside to practice French colour vocabulary🌈!

A cover letter has been issued within each of the grab bags explaining more about home learning and how this will work. Below is another list of what is included in our grab bag.

As we can’t invite our special adults to see what we learn and how we learn in class, Primary 1/1 have created an interactive video of their classroom to share what a typical day in school looks like and sounds like.

October has been a busy month for Primary 1💡! The class have had the chance to work with our Active Schools coach, Chris Rose, for some P.E. lessons. Everyone enjoyed taking part in the games on a Wednesday morning and are looking forward to working with Chris again!

Primary 1 have been working on their fine motor skills through engaging with Funky Fingers activities which they are having lots of fun with👍🏼.

We have been continuing to explore different things during Muddy Movers and in October we worked hard on balancing. The class worked in teams to create bridges on crates and over muddy puddles and tested their strength by completing the obstacle course.

The class have been enjoying our new construction bricks and building different things in the construction area🚧!

October was finished off with some Halloween fun where the class did a ghost writing tricky words task, played games, won prizes and had an afternoon of fun🎃🏅!
