In Science we have been learning all about magnets. We have been able to identify magnetic materials in our classroom, conducted magnetic experiments using liquids and looked at the effects of north and south poles on each other. We also created a ‘dancing magnet’ structure and a magnetic game called Go Fish! We had to make the game by ourselves in pairs and then we got to play the game to see who became the winner!
We have been learning about the Romans this term and some of us have particularly enjoyed learning about the Roman Army. We discovered that Roman Soldiers protected themselves with shields and helmets so we decided to make our own. Here were are looking fierce like Roman Soldiers.
We have entered the RSPB Wild Challenge and we are on our way to achieving a bronze award. We have been on a Winter Walk and wrote about the  signs of Winter that we saw. We have completed a Habitat Count of our school environment and made bird feeders. We have hung them outside on the trees and hope to do some bird watcing next week.
In PE we have ben taking part in gymnastics lessons. We have been developing our ability to climb, jump, balance and roll and travel. We love getting the change to use the climbing frame at the back of the hall and we have worked hard on keeping safe and following the rules..
Today we had our Christmas Party and we had a great time. We played the corners game, pass the parcel, musical statues and musical arms. We also did a lot of great dancing and made it really hard for the teachers to pick the best dancers. Here are some photos of a great day!
We continued our engineering challenges today  by using Kapla. Firstly we constructed a structure from one of the Kapla books. Then we constructed our own bridges. Here are our constructions.
We have been discussing the jobs of engineers and we decided that we would like to try to be engineers. We know that engineers build bridges so we decided to build our own bridges. This week we used Lego to build them. The criteria that we had was the bridge needed to be longer that 30 cm and could hold the weight of a toy bus. All our bridges managed to hold the weight of the bus however some didnt meet the length. Here they are.
We have been looking at Agriculture in Scotland this term. We learned about the journey of wheat and we found out that wheat is a key ingredient of bread. We decided to make our own bread. We measured out all the ingredients and made our own dough. We then cooked it in the oven. It wad messy but good fun! The best bit was we all got to eat our own handmade warm bread just out the oven. How good do these look?
We have created some beautiful Christmas Tree decorations for the Christmas Fayre. They will be for sale on Saturday 4th December! (ARTICLE 31)
