P6/1 had a brilliant day helping fundraise for Children in Need. We took part in some sports activities in the gym hall and also bought some toys and books from the Bring and Buy Sale. The best part was getting to wear our pyjamas all day at school!

Young Leaders Training
Our Active Schools Co-ordinator, Chris, has been in getting us trained to be Young Leaders. This means we will have the responsibility of planning, organising and leading games with children in Primary 1, 2 and 3.

Fire Service Visit
Fire fighters from Barrhead Fire Station kindly came in to talk to Primary 6 and 7 about firework safety. They answered some of the questions the class had then we all got a turn of using the hose and being inside of the fire engine. Thank you Barrhead Fire Station!

Pantomime
M&M Productions came in and performed their Jack and the Beanstalk show. What a great performance!

We have been learning about size, scale and motion in Space.
First we compared the sizes of the planets using fruit. Then we learned about the distance the planets are away from the sun which affects the planets temperature and features. We wrote a mnemonic to remember the order of the planets.

Next we learned about the phases of the moon and compared gravity. We did a moon jump experiment to see how far we would jump on the moon.

We used a Sun, Earth and Moon model to investigate why we have day and night aswell as the four seasons.

Welcome to Primary 6.1, here’s to a great year⭐️!
Here is a little showcase of just a couple of pieces of work we have completed so far✏️.

We can’t wait to show it off at Open Afternoon!
This week Primary 5 have been performing their short talks. They have been very entertaining and on a host of interesting topics. Innis started us off with a great talk about Newcastle United football team. We have also heard about special holidays, pets and hobbies amongst other things. Well done, P5!

Primary 5 are making good progress with Level 1 of Bikeability although so far the weather hasn’t been in our favour. 😢 Everyone is enjoying the sessions and showing good control of their bikes.

This term Primary 5 have produced lots of lovely artwork inspired by our topic. We have painted cherry blossom trees, and recreated Hokusai’s famous views of Mount Fuji and the Great Wave using pastels. We have also created mixed media Koi Fish using crayons and watercolours. Here is a selection of our work.

Primary 5 had a great day at the Glasgow Science Centre for our end of year trip. We enjoyed exploring all the cool zones and the Bodyworks theatre show too where we were entertained with some exciting experiments.

Primary 5 were learning about the signs of a chemical reaction.

Primary 5 have been learning to compose a melody to match a rhythm, with Mrs Carey our specialist Music teacher. The children worked in groups to compose their music and then some members of the class performed the tunes on the glockenspiel. You can listen to some of them below.
