Our Open Afternoon was themed for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. We had to make a crown, decorate a biscuit, find out information about the queen and play games from the 1940’s. Our parents got to be a king or queen for the day as they were given a crown to wear. We loved having our parents back in the school.
P3/2 all ready for Sports Day. We had lots of good fun!
We have been looking at Agriculture in Scotland this term. We learned about the journey of wheat and we found out that wheat is a key ingredient of bread. We decided to make our own bread. We measured out all the ingredients and made our own dough. We then cooked it in the oven. It wad messy but good fun! The best bit was we all got to eat our own handmade warm bread just out the oven. How good do these look?
Earth Day was Friday 22nd April and we learned how to help keep our Earth clean and safe. We decided to help our school environment by going on to the grass to pick up litter. In only 15 mins we managed to nearly fill a black bin bag. We thought it was sad that we found so much litter in our environment. However it has made us make sure we don’t drop our litter in the future. Here were are with our thumbs down to litter.
We were given a Science Challenge this month. We were told that in a group we had to build or make a something that was 3D. We could use any resources that we had in the classroom. Most groups decided to use Lego but one group decided to use paper and glue. Here are our creations. They all met the criteria.
We have been studying France and the different places that tourists can visit. We looked at lots of different tourist atttractions but we all loved the Eiffel Tower in Paris. We have created our own Eiffel Towers using art straws and chalk.
We all had a lot of fun on World Book Day! We started the morning talking about our favourite books and then reading them to the other Primary 3 class before completing a Where’s Wally Scavenger Hunt.
After break we read the story of Maggie’s Mittens and made ourselves some binoculars. To help us with keeping the page we also made a bookmark. Mrs MacDonald also came to visit and read us one of her favourite books from when she was a girl. In the afternoon we were able to show of our props and outfits in a parade.
We have been learning about the Romans this term and some of us have particularly enjoyed learning about the Roman Army. We discovered that Roman Soldiers protected themselves with shields and helmets so we decided to make our own. Here were are looking fierce like Roman Soldiers..
In Science we have been learning all about magnets. We have been able to identify magnetic materials in our classroom, conducted magnetic experiments using liquids and looked at the effects of north and south poles on each other. We also created a magnetic game called Go Fish! We had to make the game by ourselves in pairs and then we got to play the game to see who became the winner!
