Making the most of the dry weather, we took our PE lesson outdoors. We spent half the time playing basketball and the second half playing tennis allowing us to practise skills in both sports.

In Science we have been learning about the water cycle. We created an experiment where we produced a diagram of the stages of the cycle on a bag and added water. We then placed our bags around the room and have been observing them daily to witness the cycle in action.
Daisy created a Tweet of our learning for our Learning Wall:
This term in PE we are practising our tennis skills. We have been setting ourselves challenges e.g. how many keep-ups we can do one minute and changing from backhand to forehand. Lewis R is our current keep-up champion but everyone has been improving their skills. Watch the video below to see us in action and to see how hard we are concentrating.
This week we have been participating in HeartStart. We have been learning to recognise the signs of someone having a heart attack and how to help them. We used our drama skills to act out the situation. We feel confident that we know how to react in an emergency.
This term in Art we have been discovering Spanish Artists. We have studied artwork created by Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dali and Joan MirΓ³ and have been learning about the art movements Cubism and Surrealism. Below you can see a selection of our creations from the talented artists in P5.
We had fun on Friday fundraising for and celebrating Comic Relief. It was great to see lots of us wearing red to support a great charity. We watched a video in class to find out how the money raised for Comic Relief is spent and who it helps. We also had lots of fun in the hall taking part in different fun challenges such as knocking down the skittles and the balloon race.
We continue to have Music lessons with Mrs Carey our specialist teacher. Today we were learning new rhythms and used the claves in a circle game. We also played a passing ball game to help us learn our rhythms and joined in with some singing.
Today we were learning the Oompa Loompa song from our class novel. We watched a dance tutorial to learn the dance steps. Everyone picked up the steps easily and our finished dance looked great.
Thank you to the members of our class who remembered to bring in one of their favourite books today to celebrate World Book Day. Each person was able to tell us a little about our their book and why they like it so much.
We also took part in an emoji quiz to guess some of our favourite childrenβs books. Due to the marvel of technology we used artificial intelligence to allow us to take part in a question and answer session with Road Dahl and Mr Wonka! We each thought of a really interesting question to ask and got some interesting responses.

Willy Wonka requested our help. We were required to create a twenty second tv commercial to advertise one of his new sweet inventions that would persuade people to buy it. Firstly we shared our ideas in groups. Next we created a storyboard for our adverts then we rehearsed and filmed them. Take a look at this final advertisement from the Brilliant Buckets.
