Wesak

This term we have been learning about Buddhism in RME. We worked in groups to research the religion and to find out about its origins and festivals. We presented our findings with some of us sharing our knowledge through posters, Power Point and by creating websites.  We identified Wesak as being one of the most important festivals and as a class we researched this festival further on Thursday 23rd May which is when Wesak fell this year.  We also had a quiz and made cards to celebrate the festival.

Christophe’s Story 📖 📕

Today we finished our latest class novel, Christophe’s Story. It tells the tale of a young boy who must leave his home in Rwanda and move to England due to war. We decided to take our books outside to the gazebo to make the most of the nice weather.  Afterwards we decided to share our own stories. Many of us took to the hot seat to tell dramatic or special moments in our own lives.

Short Talks👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

This term we have shown great confidence in Primary 5 whilst presenting our prepared talks to our peers. We have heard information on a variety of interesting subjects including rats, football, siblings, holidays, gymnastics and more. Well done to everyone for all the hard work that has gone into creating such engaging presentations.

The Water Cycle

In Science we have been learning about the water cycle. We created an experiment where we produced a diagram of the stages of the cycle on a bag and added water. We then placed our bags around the room and have been observing them daily to witness the cycle in action.

Daisy created a Tweet of our learning for our Learning Wall:

Tennis Skills 🎾

This term in PE we are  practising our tennis skills. We have been setting ourselves challenges e.g. how many keep-ups we can do one minute and changing from backhand to forehand. Lewis R is our current keep-up champion but everyone has been improving their skills.  Watch the video below to see us in action and to see how hard we are concentrating.

HeartStart ❤️

This week we have been participating in HeartStart. We have been learning to recognise the signs of someone having a heart attack and  how to help them. We used our drama skills to act out the situation. We feel confident that we know how to react in an emergency.
