Persuasive Adverts 🎥 🍫 🎩 🎞

Willy Wonka  requested our help. We were required to create a twenty second tv commercial to advertise one of his new sweet inventions that would persuade people to buy it. Firstly we shared our ideas in groups. Next we created a storyboard for our adverts then we rehearsed and filmed them. Take a look at this final advertisement from the Brilliant Buckets.

XA Factor 2024

Good luck to both Georgia and Ronnie who have successfully made it through the auditions to today’s  final of the XA Factor.  Ronnie will be displaying his DJ skills and Georgia will be performing gymnastics. We wish them both lots of luck.

Good luck also to Ava and Isla who will be opening the show with the Cross Arthurlie Dance Club!

A little while later…

Both P5 acts put in strong performances and we are very proud of them!

Gymnastics

On Wednesday we had our first session of Gymnastics. We first of all discussed the importance of keeping ourselves safe and looking out for others by ensuring we check our equipment regularly. We worked in small groups and visited different stations allowing us the opportunity to practise balances, rolls and flips using the equipment. Many of us showed lots of creativity and confidence in our movements.

Fractions

In Primary 5 we have been taking the fear out of fractions and inserting the fun. Some of us have been learning how to simplify and make equivalent fractions. This week we have also been learning to calculate fractions of amounts. We worked together in groups to complete fraction jigsaws.

Mandarin 🇨🇳

Today we had our first Mandarin lesson of Primary 5. We met our new Mandarin teacher and learnt facts about China such as its population and the names of its main cities. We also learnt about the Great Wall of China and The Forbidden City.
Next we had the chance to write some Chinese characters.

Celebrations

Today in our RME lesson we were learning about festivals in Islam. We learnt that enjoying food together is a big part of the celebration. We had the opportunity to sample some foods and Miss Aisha painted henna patterns on our hands. We also made lanterns which are thought to be a symbol of hope in Islam.
