Scotland tourist leaflets

Last term our topic was Scotland. We researched information about famous land marks and tourist attractions in Scotland and created leaflets to advertise the places.

Scotland is full of amazing things to see and visit but we had to narrow our choices down. The places we chose to research were Edinburgh Castle, River Tay, Holyrood Palace, Loch Ness, Wallace Monument, Ben Nevis and Arthur’s Seat.

As part of our success criteria we had to ensure we included headings, subheadings, text boxes, bullet points and wrote short, key information. Have a read at our Scotland tourist guides below.

Trapped in a snow globe

Following on from our blog post a couple of weeks ago, we have finished and displayed our winter snow globe art and writing and love how this turned out!
We used our imagination to picture ourselves trapped in a snow globe and wrote all about how we got trapped inside, what we could sense, how we felt and how we managed to escape. We created snow globe art to go along with it. Have a read belowβ„οΈβ›„οΈπŸŒ¨

Fitness

Our focus for PE this term is fitness. We will be working on improving our stamina, strength and speed. Today we took part in fitness circuits such as:

Shuttle runs
Bench step ups
Slalom
Speed bounce
Hula hoops
Hopping
Agility ladder
Bean bag hold

Next week we are going to work in pairs to record our speed and scores at different fitness circuits. Each week we will try to beat our previous scores. πŸ’ͺπŸΌπŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒπŸ’¨βŒ›οΈ

Snow much fun

For writing this week we were writing an imaganitave piece about being trapped in a snow globe. We also created some fun art to go with our writing. Keep an eye on our blog to see how our snow globe writing and art turns out. To our surprise, whilst we were redrafting our writing, it started to snow! We were so excited so ofcourse we had to go out and play in the snow for a while.
Look at our snow photos below.

Christmas Party

Below are some photos from our Christmas Party day. We loved watching the pantomime online, wearing our own clothes and playing lots of fun games at our class Christmas party. Our favourite games were musical arms and the Mars bar game.πŸŽ‰πŸ₯³πŸŽŠ

Christmas Crafts

We had a great afternoon making hot chocolate reindeer cones for our Christmas craft this year. These were really simple yet fun to make. β˜•οΈπŸ”΄

We used the following resources:

  • Clear cone bags
  • Red pom poms
  • Brown pipe cleaners
  • Googly eyes
  • Hot chocolate
  • Mini marshmallows

We also decorated Christmas bags for our crafts whilst listening to Christmas music. πŸŽ„πŸŽΆ

Building a house stem challenge

This weeks stem challenge was to build a house which would withstand strong winds. This was part of our learning about climate change. We discussed how heavy rainfall, flooding and strong winds are some of the effects of climate change and we looked at real photographs of how these have destroyed people’s homes.

We worked in groups using a variety of materials including cardboard, straws, lollipop sticks, string, polystyrene, scissors and sellotape.

Once we finished building our homes we tested if they could withstand the wind created by a hair dryer. πŸ’¨πŸšπŸŒ§

Mackintosh Rose

As part of our Scotland topic, we studied the work of Charles Rennie Mackintosh, a Scottish architect, designer, water colourist and sculptor.Β We followed step by step instructions to draw and colours his famous β€˜Makintosh Rose.’ We love how these turned out to look.πŸŒΉπŸ‘¨πŸΌβ€πŸŽ¨
