Class Charter

We have been learning about the rights of every child.

We learned that we have the right to play and relax by doing things like sports, music and drama. We also learned that we have the right to an education and we are very lucky to have a free education here in Scotland!

LITERACY-

Task 1
Log on to Education City. I have assigned Roots to Fortune (Learning Screen) to your classwork. Please watch the learning screen as it gives you lots of information about making nouns plural. If you cannot find your classwork folder. You will find this screen by selecting Literacy > Early*** >Roots to Fortune – adding -s and -es to nouns.

Once you have watched the learning video please complete ‘Plural Assignment’ attached- Today we are learning that words that end in sh, ch, s or x are made plural by adding es to the end of the word.

Task 2
Yesterday, you copied the days of the week into your Spelling Jotter. Read each day carefully, cover them and try and copy each day out carefully.

NUMERACY-

Task 1- Please watch the video on GC and Mind Map the Story of 20 in your jotter. If you feel 20 is a bit of a challenge you can use the same strategy in the video to revise any number story from 10-20.

Did you manage to find all the ways? I will post my story of 20 on the stream later today.

Task 2-
Topmarks Quiz. Play with an adult, adult helps you read questions and you answer, swap and you ask your adult the questions, who scored higher?

Good morning Primary 2 here are your tasks for today.

LITERACY-

Task 1-
Please write out your next five spell words, cover each word then try and spell it a further two times. Please write two sentences using your spell words.

Task 2-
Today we are learning about adverbs. Adverbs are words which describe verbs.
Remember a verb is an action or doing word.

Open the Adverb Word Document below, you can either print it off to complete or write answers in your Literacy jotter.

Extension Activity – can you draw a story board for Bee’s Busy Day or for the day out that Bee and her friends had planned?
Remember to write each part of the story under your illustrations or add a speech bubble.
Remember to give your story a title.
I have added a blank storyboard below, however, that might be to small for your detailed work so you could ask an adult to draw it out onto a larger piece of paper.

Task 3- Please read chapter 6, Roy the Zebra, aloud to a grown up. Remember to read with expression. Pick some questions from the before and after discussion sheets and talk with a grown up.

Good morning, how are you today? Can anyone tell me what today’s date is? Does anyone know how many days we have left of this month?

Today you have Literacy, Numeracy and Health and Wellbeing tasks which can be found on Google Classroom classwork. There is a short video to watch for your HWB task, please let me know if you have any issues accessing it.

I will outline tasks below,

LITERACY-

Task 1- We are learning to scan for information. We are learning to write in sentences.

Please open up the attachments on Google Classroom- The first attachment is an image ‘Map of Barton’ and the next one is questions about the map. Please answer the questions about Map of Barton, in sentences, in your Literacy Jotter. Remember to put the big date at the top.

Task 2- Please select an activity from the Spelling Grid that is inside your Green learning folder.

Task 3- Keep on reading aloud!
Please read chapter 4 of Roy the Zebra, use the discussion sheets and comment on here what you enjoyed about this chapter. Remember to read with expression and point out any question marks or exclamation marks to your grown up.

Please open the attached image and complete the questions in your Numeracy Jotter. If you have a printer at home, you can print the worksheet and write on it.

All children please revise your maths number bonds. Click on the Topmarks link below and select the addition carriage. You can choose bonds to make 10 or bonds to make 20. There are lots of different games you can play on the Mental Maths Train, so feel free to explore some other options.

Why do you think George wanted to keep everyone out the house?
Has something like that ever happened to you or a friend?
If so how was it sorted out?
Why do you think George changed his mind at the end of the story about the children being in the house?

Possible Activities-
Use a cardboard box or anything you can find to make your own house. Invite your teddy bears and toys in, tell stories, play games.

Use pens, pencils, crayons or paint to draw your house. Beside it draw all the people and animals you live with.

Draw a friend- around the picture of your friend write all the reasons you like them.

Good morning I hope you are well and are enjoying the sunny weather. Today’s tasks are posted below but you will need to access Google Classroom to complete some of them so please contact the school office if you have any trouble gaining access.

LITERACY

Task 1- Please copy in your next five spell words, cover each word then try and spell it a further two times. Please write two sentences using your spell words, these can be real or silly sentences.

Task 2- Before the Spring holiday we were learning about verbs. Remember a verb is an action or doing word.
Today we are going to learn about adverbs. Adverbs are words which describe verbs.
Look at the PowerPoint (on google classroom) to learn about adverbs.
Now complete the Adverbs task. This can be done by editing the Word document or by writing the sentences into your Literacy jotter.

Task 3-
Keep on Reading! I have attached the link to Roy the Zebra, before the holidays you were asked to read chapter 1 and 2, please read chapter 3 aloud to a grown up. It has been a little while since you last read the story so if you like you could have a quick scan over the first two chapters. Use the before and after reading discussion sheets to chat about what you have read. What do you think is in the distance at the end of Chapter 3?

Monday 20th April

Good morning Primary 2, how are you all today? Did you have a nice Spring Break? Did you do anything fun?

The weather has been fantastic, I have had lots of fun playing with Arthur in the garden and yesterday we had our first BBQ of the year. Arthur turns two in a few weeks and over the holiday he has been learning to say lots of new words, he has become a little chatterbox!

Literacy

Task 1
Writing – Make an Easter card for a neighbour to bring them some cheer while we are all staying at home.  Please include:
– To ….
– Write a kind sentence inside which will hopefully cheer your neighbour up, see attached example
– From ….
Decorate the front with an Easter themed picture.

Task 2
Active spelling – Use the spelling grid provided in Home Learning Pack to choose a spelling activity. Select a different spelling activity from yesterday.

Task 3
Talk to an adult about a special time you remember from when you were younger. What did you do? who were you with? where were you? If you would like to share this on Google classroom that would be lovely too.

Numeracy

Task 1
Measure – Can you choose five objects in your house and measure them? If you don’t have a ruler could you use different objects to measure?
eg the book is the same length as 10 lego pieces.
Tell me what you measured and what you used to measure.
If you use a ruler remember to use Centimetres( CMs.)
Can you talk about your measurements with an adult using longer, shorter, the same as.
