Primary 4 continue to explore the human body and have been learning about the heart. We discovered that the heart is responsible for pumping blood around the body to every cell.\u00a0Blood travels from the heart to the lungs, where it is oxygenated, then travels back to the heart to be pumped around the body. Blood vessels that carry blood away from the heart are called arteries and mainly carry oxygenated blood. Those returning to the heart are called veins and mainly carry carbon dioxide back to the lungs.<\/p>\n
