Fruit Blast

Primary 4/1 have worked hard this term on an enterprise topic.

After lots of thought and discussion  they decided they wanted to create a company that would make and sell fruit kebabs

Over the last few weeks they worked together and created a company name and logo.

They then completed their market research by asking the pupils around the school what their favourite fruits were. They collected this information using tally marks and displayed the data using bar graphs.

The pupils used chrome books to research the cost of different fruits from a variety of local supermarkets. They compared the prices and found the best price for the most fruit.

After collecting all of their research they advertised their company using posters. They displayed the posters around the school and invited some classes to their fruit kebab sale.

On the day of the sale the pupils prepared the fruit by washing it all. They then used their chopping and peeling skills to prepare the fruit.

They then enjoyed selecting different fruits for the kebabs using a variety of colours and patterns.

The pupils worked out pricing and gave all pupils the correct change.

The fruit kebab sale was a success and the pupils made a profit of £15.25.

Well done Primary 4!!!!!

Vikingar

Primary 4 enjoyed their trip to Vikingar in Largs!

When they arrived they were shown into a big theatre hall where some lucky mini vikings got to dress up as traidors, farmers, crafts people and wealthy Vikings!

They had a tour of a long house and could explore all of the equipment the Vikings used in daily life.

They got to try on the armour used in battle including helmets and shields.

They then got to meet the different God’s and had a special visit from Odin!

Partner balances

Today the children had great fun learning different partner balances.

They communicated with each other and discussed the best approach to each balance. They then practised each move until they had confidence balancing.

Well done! Great teamwork skills!

Viking runes

The children explored viking runes. They wrote their own name using the viking alphabet and wrote a secret message to each other.

They loved making their own viking stones out of clay and carved their initials into them using viking runes.

Viking clothing

The children explored the type of clothing Viking men and women would wear.

They investigated the materials that were used to make the clothing and how different materials were used to show a Viking’s wealth.

Using a variety of material including leather, silk and wool the children designed and created their own Viking clothing.

Fantastic job Primary 4!!

Speech marks

Today we were learning to identify and use speech marks.

We had great fun using macaroni pasta to add speech marks to sentences and questions.

We used magnifying glasses to search for speech marks in our reading books.

Highland Dancing

We have been learning about Scotland.

We have investigated Scottish cities. Landmarks. Lochs and many other interesting things.

The pupils  have created landmark leaflets, wrote an imaginative diary entry about seeing Nessie the Loch Ness monster and created fantastic art work.

We have also explored different Scottish traditions and food.

Today the girls demonstrated their fantastic Highland dancing skills. Well done girls!!
