In science, Primary 1 have been learning about living and non-living things.
To identify and group things which are living and non-living we explored our playground and created a list of the different thing we found.

The weather has been so nice recently we took advantage and went outside. There was no mud in the mud kitchen so the children instead build dens, Â created race tracks, built an obstacle course and much more.

We sometimes enjoy listening to some music while completing our targets. Then sometimes having a little dance along to the music just makes the day even better.
Primary 1 were extremely excited for Easter so we decided to make some easter crafts to get in the spirit.
We designed Easter Bonnets and baby chicks. Ordered alphabet eggs, had an easter egg hunt and designed nests for farm animals.
We made a big mess with feathers and straw but it was all worth it!
Even Miss Adam got into the spirit of Easter.
We even found a ladybird trying to join in our Easter egg hunt.
As part of our Space topic we used our imagination to create aliens from outer space and then used adjectives to describe them.
We used adjectives to write sentences about our aliens.
Well done Primary 1 your sentence writing is amazing!
Primary 1.1 have been learning to lead, challenge and capture their own learning throughout the year. Here is some of the things they felt proud of and wanted to record using the class iPad.
All of the pictures are taken by the class independently. They choose what they want to record to show at a later time.
Story of 11.
Spelling and some close up pictures.
Relaxing in the library with a good book.
Using the chrome books to work on number stories.
Alphabetical order.
Using the Literacy Garden wall to practise sentence writing in the sentence stream.
Spelling in the sand.
Arts and crafts.
To celebrate the life of Robert Burns we decided to have a Scottish party.
We tasted Scottish food; haggis needs and tattles, Scottish cheese and oat cakes and some shortbread!
We listened to music, learned the Canadian barn dance and made crafts all with a Scottish theme. Sadly we were so busy having fun we forgot to take any pictures!
To end our party though Primary 7 came down to share some of their Burns Supper with us. We were amazed at their talent, it was a perfect end to the Scottish party.
We listened to Auld Lang Syne on the flute.
During open day Primary 1 planted mystery bulbs to try and grow their own Flumflum tree similar to thr story we had been reading ‘Jack and the Flumflum tree’.
We have been taking care of them in the classroom, watering them and watching them grow but it was time to plant them outside.
First we had to weed the old planters and add new compost.
 Â
We then found a new bug hotel and a few bird houses. We had to be very quiet to not disturb any of the wild life.
We have been learning about Space in Primary 1.
Today we have been talking about the planets in our Solar System. Some of our class decided to  recreate the planets orbiting the sun.
We have been enjoying reading different fairy tales in Primary 1 recently, the latest is The Three Little Pigs.
The children all discussed their favourite part of the story, they wrote sentences and drew pictures about it. They then used clay, straw and beans to build their own house just like The 3 Little Pigs.
Such great focus and concentration.
Really imaginative and individual houses.
They did an amazing job and were very proud of their creations!
