P7 are going to the Science Centre in Glasgow today to learn about renewable energy. There is a lab visit and a walk around the museum!
Children have been learning about climate change and have been taking part in an event to raise awareness of climate change and climate inequality. Here they are looking at the environment in our school. They had to find items they think are beautiful, items that smell nice and items that are interesting g to touch.
P7 are visiting the high school this afternoon for a science transition. We got to see a biology lesson and investigated our heart rate.
What a great time looking at all the Egyptian artefacts and much more!
P6 have been making their own video games using Microsoft Makecode over the past few weeks. We have now downloaded them onto Meowbits (handheld game devices) to play them just like real computer games!
P6 Knex Bridge winners are competing against Hillview and Carlibar in the Glasgow science festival STEM award. Their task is to build a go-cart with moving steering! Good luck!
P6 are looking at the effects of static electricity in different items. We saw that sugar, flour and rice was attracted to the negatively charged balloon. We were also able bend water using negatively charged rulers.
It was fun creating animals using paper which moved with the balloons.
We are testing how much we love each other this Valentine’s Day with our Microbit love meters! Touch the love meter to see how much you love the other person.
P6 are taking part in a K’nex challenge. They have to build a bridge that satisfies the following criteria. It must:
be a stable structure.
span a 50cm gap.
hold a weight of at least a textbook.
The best team players will go on to represent Cross Arthurlie at the Barrhead High cluster competition. The winner of that competition will go onto a Glasgow wide and then a nation wide competition.
