P6 have been making their own video games using Microsoft Makecode over the past few weeks. We have now downloaded them onto Meowbits (handheld game devices) to play them just like real computer games!
P6 Knex Bridge winners are competing against Hillview and Carlibar in the Glasgow science festival STEM award. Their task is to build a go-cart with moving steering! Good luck!
P6 are looking at the effects of static electricity in different items. We saw that sugar, flour and rice was attracted to the negatively charged balloon. We were also able bend water using negatively charged rulers.
It was fun creating animals using paper which moved with the balloons.
We are testing how much we love each other this Valentine’s Day with our Microbit love meters! Touch the love meter to see how much you love the other person.
P6 are taking part in a K’nex challenge. They have to build a bridge that satisfies the following criteria. It must:
be a stable structure.
span a 50cm gap.
hold a weight of at least a textbook.
The best team players will go on to represent Cross Arthurlie at the Barrhead High cluster competition. The winner of that competition will go onto a Glasgow wide and then a nation wide competition.
More gymnastic fun with P6. A little more adventurous with some children managing backflips!
We have been building more on our gymnastics moves as the children become more confident. This week we have used some apparatus to practise head stands and rolls, jumps and rolls as well as our climbing skills.
This week we are focusing on inversion (being upside down). We started off with a shoulder stand before going into a head stand! Super exciting! We had a lot of red faces!
This week we are starting with balances. We have be using our strength and coordination to succeed!
