This week Cross Arthurlie has been taking part in the Big Walk and Wheel challenge.

Each day the pupils are trying their best to either walk, cycle or scoot to school.

Today the Junior Road Safety Officers from Primary 6 and 7 led activities in the playground where pupils completed challenges on their bikes and scooters.

World Book Day!

Today was World Book Day and everyone at Cross Arthurlie took part in a range of activities to celebrate.

Primary 5 visited the lower school to read to their Primary 1 buddies. They used fabulous expression when reading aloud, making the story captivating for their listeners. Next, the pupils took part in a book themed scavenger hunt where they had to find and solve tricky clues.

Some children even brought in their favourite books to share with the class!

Burns Afternoon!

Yesterday, Primary 5 celebrated Robert Burns Day!

The haggis was piped in which was followed by Lexie reading the Selkirk Grace. Lots of children then helped to address the haggis in both English and traditional Scots language.

Next, the pupils had the chance to sample some Scottish food which was followed by the reading of Burns poems and lots of Scottish dancing.

The class then finished off the celebrations by singing Auld Lang Syne.

Gymnastics!

Today in PE, Primary 5 started a block of gymnastics. The pupils worked on their balancing skills, thinking about different ways they could position their bodies to make shapes on a range of equipment. Everyone listened very well and came up with super imaginative ideas. Each group also supported each other and tried their very best, well done Primary 5!

Digital Literacy Week!

Today, as part of Digital Literacy Week, Primary 5 have been developing their coding skills. First the children explored the role of coding through role play by creating a list of instructions or a code for each other in order to navigate an obstacle course. The pupils then used chromebooks and the computers in the ICT suite to practise making codes to complete a Minecraft game. Mastering this involves precision as well as a lot of problem solving and all of the pupils tried very hard, well done Primary 5!
