September 2019

This month we chose Roald Dahl as our Author of the Month and we have really enjoyed listening to Fantastic Mr Fox 🦊 We made lots of predictions and altered them as we listened, we wrote character descriptions, made fox masks, enjoyed independent reading of various Roald Dahl books, completed word searches, and finally wrote a book review.

In maths we’ve been learning about right angles and giving directions through left and right turns. Programming Bee-Bot to complete a journey was much harder than we thought it would be but we had lots of fun trying.

We have also been learning about numbers to 100. We are learning to recognise and read each number, state what number comes before, after and between given numbers and we’re  also completing number sequences counting forward and backwards. Please ask us questions at home and let us teach you all about these numbers, it will help to consolidate our learning.

Muddy Movers has been great fun! We work well as a team to build obstacle courses and always enjoy exploring in the mud kitchen and sand box.

At gym we have been working on our ball handling skills such as rolling, bouncing, throwing and catching. We have also been dribbling the ball with our feet and started to control the ball with a hockey stick. We also enjoy team games.

We really enjoyed our introductory lesson to Tae Kwon Do with Hazel.  We all tried each move with enthusiasm and were excited to learn about a new sport.

Finally we would like to thank our JRSO team for organising a fun scooter and bicycle event for us to take part in.

August 2019

The first couple of weeks back have been very busy in Primary 2.

In Numeracy we have been reciting, ordering and discussing special events in the months of the year.  We collected information using tally marks and displayed this in our own bar graphs.

We have also been working on learning our doubles up to 20.

Arya and James spotted some interesting facts about the answers 👍

Crome Books are a great way to consolidate learning. Lots of Maths games being played each day.

Some of the girls have spent time creating different patterns together and proudly show them off. Well done girls 👏👏

In Literacy we read the story ‘The Tiger Who Came to Tea’ and then carried out lots of work relating to it.  We sequenced pictures, wrote in sentences to retell the story, wrote shopping lists, printed tiger stripes and even had a go at a jigsaw.

We have used loose parts to have fun spelling words.

In art we used celery to print scales on our fish 🐠 We have been learning to spell words with the ‘sh’ sound. We had to think about creating a pattern with the colours. We hope you like them 🐟
