We know things are a little funny just now with everything that is going on in the world. We are trying our best to carry on as normal. We are missing our friends and hope that everyone is staying safe. Here are some snaps from the last few days! I will keep in touch as best as I can βΊοΈ
P3: Google Classroom π±π½π₯π±π½ββοΈ
For logging on to Google classroom you may require our class code. These are written on the inside of the home learning packs. You may also require your Glow login email. Your glow login is a username starting with gw. Your child should know this by heart as we use this everyday. I also sent it home yesterday in an envelope along with an Education City login and Sumdog Login.
If it asks for your glow email, this is your glow username followed by @er.glow.scot NOT @glow.sch.uk as is written in your home learning pack. This is incorrect and will not work. For example gw15surnameforename@er.glow.scot
To access Google Classroom you have two options:
1. Go to the Glow Login website. Use your βgwβ login. Scroll down and select the app for Google Classroom.
2. Download the Google Classroom App on your smartphone/ tablet/ iPad. Use our class login code or your βgwβ email to access our classroom.
I cannot post the class code on here for security reasons. Please try to log into google classroom and say hi on my latest post βΊοΈ. Please share with families in our class to help us work together. ππ½π©π»βπ«
P3: St Patrickβs ππ
Today we learned how to write personal writing. We learned how some people around the world celebrate St Patrickβs Day. We learned that some people believe you can leave out a trap to catch a leprechaun! For our writing today we wrote about what we would wish for if we caught a leprechaun! We learned how to write personally about things we like and things that are meaningful for for us as individuals. We also learned how to apply various openers to our paragraphs such as Firstly, Secondly, Next, Also and Finally. we added paper chain rainbows to our work just to show off! πππ½
P3: Energy π‘ππ
We are learning how to explore Energy in Science π§¬. This week we learned how to create Static Energy or Static Electricity. Β We used the balloons to create energy. We learned that all objects have positive and negative atoms on them. We know this is hard to imagine so we drew out what atoms might look like and gave them happy positive faces and sad negative faces. When the objects rub together all atoms get jumbled up! When you hold it close together again, the atoms jump back quickly to where they came from in the first place and go back to their places. Β This causes our hair to stand up as all the atoms move or we sometimes get an electric shock when they jump back to their places very quickly. When the atoms are all back to where they belong, balance is restored and the energy runs out. We loved creating static energy and waiting to see how long it lasted. When it ran out, the balloons dropped to the floor and our hair went flat again. Of course, I got attacked by enthusiastic energy creators!! A great Friday afternoon! Well done, team! πβ‘οΈπ₯

P3: Pancake Day π₯ππ―
Late to the party with this one – sorry! We enjoyed visiting P7 to celebrate pancake day. P7 were fundraising to help pay for their end of year residential trip. We were, of course, happy to help! Yum! πΒ
P3: Volume π§β₯οΈπ₯€
We are learning how to measure volume and use standard units of measure. We learned how to measure liquids in Litres and Millilitres. We remember that L and Ml are used for Liquids with our simple code: L for Liquids and L for Litres. We remember that Litres are LARGER units of liquid and Millilitres are MINI units of liquid. We studied what one Millilitre looks like. Β Because it was so small, this helped us realise how many millilitres you would need for a whole litre of liquid. We know that there are 1000ml in one litre!
We worked through different areas to explore and refine our knowledge. We read scales; converted litres into millilitres and we measured out water and to fill different capacities.. Of course playing with water in class causes all sorts of hilarity! ππ At the spelling area we spelt out nouns that would be measured in ml or Litres. We had some p6 helpers who are confident in this area to help us with our learning. Lots of happy faces in P3 getting more and more confident with Maths and Numeracy! ππ½π―
P3: Achievements π€©π₯³π₯°
We love celebrating all sorts of achievements both in and out of the classroom! Keep emβ coming! βΊοΈπ€©π₯³
P3: World Book Day ππ₯°π
We had a great day celebrating all things reading for World Book Day 2020! We enjoyed reading time in the gym hall with pretty fairy lights and a calm reading environment. We loved having some time just to relax and read away from our busy schedule. In class we took part in βBook Tastingβ π We each placed our books on our plates. We moved around the room with our βmenusβ and explored 6 different books. In our menus we took note of the genre; what attracted us to the book; the title and author; any characters; impressions after reading a few pages; if we would want to read the book and gave it a star rating! We worked really hard at this task and found lots of books that we would like to read! In the afternoon we each went to a teacher to listen to some reading. We signed up to the book we wanted to listen to. It was a fab day and we loved celebrating books and the joy of reading! Our reading is improving everyday thanks to our hard work in class and support at home.
P3: Mandarin π¨π³β₯οΈ
We have enjoying learning how to identify and recall vocabulary in Mandarin. We have also been learning how to celebrate diverse cultures different from our own. We love it when Mrs Qiu becomes her alter ego, PanPan! He tests our conversational language and sometimes we even get to wear him on our heads! We learned all about Chinese New Year and how they celebrate and prepare for their biggest event of the year! We have been learning how to pronounce sports in Mandarin and introductory words.Β We only have a few weeks left of Mandarin so we are making the most of visiting our amazing Mandarin Classroom. Our Mandarin timetable will end at the Spring Break. π²πΈπ
