P3: Prepositions 🔛↩️🕚

In a Grammar today we learned how to write, identify and select the most suitable preposition. We learned that prepositions tell us the time or position if something. We started by looking at a large image of a room. In groups we used positional language to describe the objects.

We worked though various learning experiences to secure our learning. We completed questions from our workbook (differentiated for ability, assessed piece of work); we read instructions which guided us to draw things in the correct place. We had to draw the object by followings the directions and also circle the preposition in the sentence. We used the BeeBots 🐝 to direct them over, under, in front of, behind or next to different locations. We also listened to a song on YouTube called Prepositions by The Brazilians. It was very catchy and helped us remember which kind of words are prepositions. Feel free to have a listen at home!

We all did really well and our grammar is improving every week!

Ask us about common and proper nouns, plural and singular words, prepositions and adjectives for more information as that is what we have covered so far ✏️😏

P3: Drama 🎭🎬🎟

In drama this week we learned how to use our voices to become a different character. This was opposite to last week when we were not allowed to use our voices when we learned how to mime.

The next chapter in The Owl who was Afraid of the Dark is Dark is Fascinating. We haven’t read the chapter yet, instead we chose to predict why Dark might be ‘Fascinating’. We decided that exploring the moon and looking at the stars is fascinating!

In teams, we created a short skit which showed a ‘travel to the moon’ performance. As the Americans were the first men on the moon, we practised changing our voices to put on an American accent. After the initial hilarity (why is changing your voice so funny?! 😂) we did really well! Some of us were so happy and excited with our performances that it ended in a team cuddle! 😂🙈

We practised giving positive and constructive feedback together which helped point out some things we can work on for next time. Well done little performers!

P3: Number Families 🔟6️⃣4️⃣

We are (continuously) learning how to relate Number bonds and recognise pattern within Number. We practise Number and mental arithmetic strategies everyday in class to help reinforce quick number recognition.

This week we used our new whiteboards to help us identify the unique pattern and relation between numbers. We chose a number and then split the number into two parts. We know there are many ways to split a number and we can choose anyway which we feel most confident with. We lay out all the addition and subtraction rules for that number family. This helped us recognise that all three numbers are present no matter which way round the calculation is, or which rule you are applying (addition or subtraction).

This is a great practise tool to use at home! How many number families can you make for the same number?!

E.g 13 = 9 + 4 so 13 – 4 = 9 and 13 – 9 = 4 OR 13 = 7 + 6 so 13 – 7 = 6 and 13 – 6 = 7

Numbers deserve happy families too! ♥️👍🏽😊

P3: Achievements 🏆🏅👍🏽

We love to celebrate learning in all forms. In our classroom we have an achievement photo board. If you achieve something either in school or out of school it is important to celebrate it! Please bring any achievements into school so I can add it to our board. This could be anything such as art, sports, a club, sourcing resources related to learning, helping others, swimming…anything you put effort into!

Well done to our achievers! I look forward to seeing more soon!

P3: Kindness 💜💛🧡

In Health and Well-Being we learned the importance of being kind to others. We each held a delicate paper heart. We listened to a story called Chrysanthemum. Each time the characters feeling were hurt we gently squeezed our hearts. By the end of the story our hearts were creased and crinkled. After the story we tried to make the hearts perfect again by making them smooth and flat. However, we soon discovered that even though we could make the hearts much better, the little lines would not go away.

This taught us that if our feelings are hurt, we can feel better through comfort and care but we tend not to forget these hurtful moments. It reminded us the importance of being kind at all times and to respect the feelings of those around us. 💜💙❤️

P3: 3D Shape 🌍🗼⛺️

We have been learning how to name, sort and identify 3D shapes in both the real world and within a numeracy context. This week we named and labelled 3D shapes; made our own 3D shapes and named 3D shapes that we see daily.

You may see our Teachers in Training in action. Teachers in Training are chosen to support their peers if they display confidence in a particular area of knowledge or understanding. We know to respect that we all learn at difference paces and we all have strengths in different areas both in and out with the school curriculum.

P3: Drama 🎭🎪🤹🏽‍♂️

In drama we are learning how to use body language and facial expressions to perform. This week we learned how to perform through mime. We watched some mime acts and noticed that when we do mime we don’t use our voices. We have to make everything quite “over the top” to make the story clear and entertaining to watch.

Our class topic is The Owl who is Afraid of the Dark. Chapter 3 in the book is titled Dark is Fun. In drama we worked in teams to mime a ,Dark is Fun’ scene. The rest of the class had to guess what we were miming. The scenes were: going trick or treating 🎃, going camping 🏕, sneaking out of bed for a midnight feast 🛌 and playing hide and seek 🙈.

The scenes were SO good! Everybody managed to perform without talking and did ‘big’ actions to exaggerate the performance. I can’t wait for next weeks lesson already! 🎭🗯🃏

P3: Possession Games 🏑🏀🏒

In PE we are learning how to play and participate in possession games. We learned that possession means something you own or look after. When we thought about special possessions we have at home, this helped us remember that possession games in sport and games are where we want to protect the ball by ourselves or with our team.

This week we practised how to aim. This will help us get the ball to a target or a team mate without giving it away. We worked through different stations to reinforce our skills.

In PE we aim to earn house and group points by: listening and watching examples of skills; respecting each other and the equipment; helping to tidy up; remaining calm in competitive situations and helping and supporting our team mates. We are doing so well in the gym hall! Well done everyone on fab session! 🏅🏆🏑

P3: Welcome to P3 🏫👩🏻‍🏫✏

Welcome to P3/2’s Blog! Thank you for your patience while I collected Data Protection and Photo consent. If you are not seeing photos of your child and would like to, please return the Online Photo Consent slip to grant permission for me to post online. 😊

We have had three weeks back to school already and we are having a blast! I have already seen progress both socially and academically! I can’t wait to see how far we will go by the end of P3 (it will be here before we know it I bet!)

These photos were taken on the first day of term. If you have any questions or queries please do not hesitate to contact me via the school office or I check homework packs every morning for notes and letters.📝

Welcome back! Here’s to a great year ahead!  📚📖🍎
