P3: National Fitness Day ๐Ÿ‹๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿฅ‡๐Ÿ‹๐Ÿฝโ€โ™‚๏ธ

We celebrated National Fitness Day this week by taking part in two Kidsโ€™ Personal Trainer sessions with Joe Wicks The Body Coach. We discussed the importance of healthy food and exercise for our bodies and mental health. ย We loved the sessions because they are filmed in a classroom! This reminded us that you really can get your body moving just about anywhere! This sure was a sweaty session but we got through it and we had big smiles at the end! Woohoo! ๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿ†

P3: Hot and Cold Colours ๐ŸŒˆ๐ŸŽจ๐Ÿ–Œ

Over the last few weeks in Art we have been learning how to: identify and apply hot and cold colours; create artwork inspired by that of a famous artist ๐Ÿ‘ฉ๐Ÿผโ€๐ŸŽจ and apply texture.

We studied the work and life of Vincent Van Gogh. We researched facts about his life and his art. Did you know his first panting was called The Potato Eaters?! We thought this was quite funny! We began by looking at one of his famous panting ps that uses hot colours. We studied the painting Sunflowers ๐ŸŒป

We thought the painting looked actually quite sad as the flowers were drooping ๐Ÿฅ€ and the colours were quite dusty. We decided to recreate Sunflowers in a more fun and vibrant way. We applied texture by using different materials to add layers and a 3D aspect. ย We discussed texture vocabulary such as smooth, bumpy, lumpy, rough and soft.

The second painting we looked at was a cold coloured painting called Starry Night. We thought this looked magical and we imagined Plop the owlย exploring the night sky. ๐Ÿฆ‰We continued to learn to apply texture by cutting and sticking different materials to create a cold, starry scene. We loved using the glitter to add a scratchy and sparkly layerย โœจ๐Ÿ’ซ๐ŸŒŸ

We are so proud of our artist study and the results are beautiful! Test us on our hot and cold colour knowledge to see how good we are! ๐ŸŒˆ๐ŸŽจ๐Ÿ‘ฉ๐Ÿผโ€๐ŸŽจ๐Ÿ‘จ๐Ÿฝโ€๐ŸŽจ

P3: Gestures ๐ŸŽญ๐ŸŽช๐ŸŽŸ

In Drama this week we were learning how to perform gestures. We learned that a gesture is when you use your body and facial expression to convey a message. We pretended that we were at a busy party and our friend was across the crowd. We had to gesture to them that we wanted to leave and explain why. ย For example, we used our bodies and faces to say โ€œLetโ€™s go! Itโ€™s too hot in here!โ€ Or โ€œWe need to go! I am not feeling well!โ€

We were very good at this lesson! We were surprised at how much we can say without using any words! Enjoy our very expressive photos! ๐Ÿฅณ๐Ÿ˜ฑ๐Ÿ˜

P3: Cycle to School ๐Ÿšด๐Ÿฝโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿฅ‡๐Ÿšด๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ

Thank you so much to our Junior Road Safety Officers for leading a fab cycle and scoot session to celebrate Bike to School Week! It was hard to get a good photo of everyone because we were all moving around getting lots of exercises and fresh air and having fun! ๐Ÿšด๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ’จ๐Ÿšด๐Ÿฝโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ’จ

P3: Digital Research ๐Ÿ“ŸโŒจ๏ธ๐Ÿ–ฅ

We are learning how to use digital technologies to enhance our learning. We are also learning how to use different forms of text to research.

We used the chrome books to research different aspects of Chapter 6 of The Owl who was Afraid of the Dark. This chapter is called Dark is Wonderful. This chapter made great links with our science topic of Space as it looks at how wonderful the stars and planets can be and the exploration of space.

We used the chrome books to research: what a constellation is; what the the Sirius star is; what a telescope is used for and what astronomy is. If you ask us we might be able to tell you about what we found (๐Ÿคž๐Ÿฝ).

We love using ย the chrome books and are improving our typing skills every week. Well done, researchers and fab team work skills too! ๐Ÿ’ปโŒจ๐Ÿ–ฅ

P3: Achievements ๐Ÿ…๐Ÿ†๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿฝ

We love celebrating all kinds of achievements! This week we were treated to some amazing moon research in relation to our Day and Night topic. ย We loved reading the facts! ๐Ÿ’ซ๐ŸŒ™๐ŸŒš

We also saw some incredible clothes folding when we got ready for gym! We are learning how to be responsible citizens for both our learning and our property. ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ‘–๐Ÿ‘•

P3: Bye Bye Plop ๐Ÿฆ‰๐ŸŒฒโœจ

We are learning how to make and create art using influences from across the curriculum.

Today we read the final chapter of The Owl who was Afraid of the Dark! We were so happy to find out that Plop (the owl) overcame his fear of the dark. We were so happy…we burst into applause when we completed the book! To celebrate, we made our own Plop owls using paint and card. Our owls look forward to meeting you at Open Afternoon in a few weeks! Donโ€™t you think they look great? ๐Ÿฆ‰๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿฝโœจ๐ŸŒฒโ™ฅ๏ธ

P.s our manners in class this afternoon wereย so good! There were pleases and thank yous every time I gave out new paint or scissors and it made me so happy! Keep up the great work little artists!

P3: Symmetry ๐Ÿฆ‹๐Ÿ•๐Ÿš–

On Fridays in Maths we focus on Numeracy. Numeracy is a set of maths skills that you might use in everyday life. ย More importantly, we focus on practising the ability to relate the skills we learn to real life (measure, time, symmetry, money and data). This week we learned how to identify symmetry.

We learned how to recognise symmetry; check our working using a mirror, and draw a line (or lines) of symmetry. ย We started by looking at images of things in the real world that have symmetry. We explored symmetry in artwork, buildings, nature, animals andย religion. We then used the smart-board to create digital symmetrical patterns to demonstrate clearly that symmetry is not a repeatedย  pattern but an exact mirror image.

We worked through various tasks to practise identifying symmetry and creating symmetrical images and patterns. Now that we have a secure understanding, next week we will work through more challenging and thought provoking learning activities which reiterate symmetry in the real world further.

Can you spot any symmetry when youโ€™re out and about?! Let me know if you do! ๐Ÿ‘€๐Ÿ”๐Ÿž

P3: Jeans for Genes Day ๐Ÿ‘–โ™ฅ๏ธ๐Ÿงฌ

We had a great day wearing our jeans to celebrate and raise awareness for Jeans for Genes Day! Thank you to everyone who donated towards this great charity.

In writing today we researched Jeans for Genes Day and wrote about the information we sourced. It was very interesting. It reminded us the importance of respecting others and that everyone has a right to a safe and fulfilling life no matter what their circumstances are.

This is the official website which we used today if you would like to read or watch more films about genetic disorders amongst children. Well done everyone!ย https://www.jeansforgenesday.org/schools

P3: Achievements ๐Ÿ…๐Ÿ†๐Ÿคฉ

Congratulations and thank you to our achievers! We love celebrating learning outside of school! This week we were treated to Summer Reading Challenge completers ย and Fortune Teller creators! ๐Ÿ”ฎ๐Ÿ“š The fortune tellers told me who I was going to marry ๐Ÿ˜‚ que classroom hilarity!ย ย All smiles in P3/2 ๐Ÿ™ˆ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿฝ
