We have been learning how to grow and look after plants. We tidied out our planter in the sensory garden and noticed some food which had grown. We trimmed the spring onions and chives so we could taste it and left it to grow again this season. Then we planted our sunflowers and strawberry plants.
We washed and chopped the spring onions and chives so we could taste it. YUM!
We loved taking part in the potted sports and cheering on our houses in the races.
We have been learning to compare the culture and lifestyle of another country with Scotland. We chose to learn about Australia and have investigated Aboriginal traditions, types of animals, artefacts and famous landmarks.
We used our creative skills to design Aboriginal art using the pointillism technique, selecting Earth colours and selecting special symbols to represent different natural materials.
We also made cork hats, boomerangs and didgeridoos using cardboard and painting aboriginal designs.
We have been developing our communication and teamwork skills through Muddy Movers. We worked as a class to make an obstacle course that would be able to take us from one side to the other. We tested it, then we helped the Primary 3s across. We all supported each other very well.
The pupil council have asked each class to look after a planter in the playground so we decided that we would like to grow some sunflowers. We planted the seeds in the classroom to give them time to grow in a warm environment and then we will move them outside. We also wrote a set of instructions for planting and caring for a seed.
We have been developing our balancing, rolling and jumping skills across a range of equipment. We joined them together to create a sequence and were able to peer assess each others’ routines by focusing on balance, control, strength and coordination.
We have been learning about solubility. We mixed a variety of solutes into the solvent to test if they would be soluble. We made predictions and observed what would happen. We wanted to know if stirring would change the outcome.
Then we investigated different ways to separate insoluble substances from the solvent. We tried filtering, decanting, sieving and magnetism.
