Symmetry

This week we have been learning about symmetry. We went on a symmetry hunt outside in the playground.

Then we had to create a symmetrical crown. We had to draw on the line of symmetry and then we kept using our mirror to check our crown was coloured symmetrically.

Finally we used our mirrors to complete a symmetrical drawing.  We think that we’re all successful learners and have achieved our targets. Well done P2 👏🌟

Beat the Street

Primary 2/1 have been very good at participating in Beat the Street. Mrs Brown is definitely going to miss our weekly walk 👍🏅 Huge thank you to Mrs Murray for always walking with us 💐

Monday and Tuesday Personal Talks

We are all enjoying the interesting personal talks. So far everyone has used a clear voice, made good eye contact with their audience and been able to answer questions. We’ve heard about loving family pets, favourite animals, family holidays, football and Jude’s amazing policies he’d introduce if he became Prime Minister. I’d certainly vote for Jude!

Well done everyone, you are all confident individuals 👏👏👏

World Book Day

Primary 2 really enjoyed sharing their favourite book with a friend. First of all we chose a comfy spot inside to read one of our books together and then we went outside to enjoy our other book. We love reading! 📚

After all our reading we had fun playing together on the active trail.

Numeracy and Mathematics

Lots of active learning in Maths this month. We’ve been using mirrors to explore symmetry, measuring tapes to investigate length, using 3D shapes to explore patterns, we made clocks to show and tell o’clock and half past times and we also made play dough to explore fractions then used our new knowledge to follow instructions to create pizzas. We continue to work on numbers to 100 and adding and subtracting within 20.  Phew! We are all busy, successful learners 👍

Celebrating Chinese New Year

This month we’ve been learning all about Chinese New Year.  We can retell the story of the Jade Emperor and the animal race and state that 2019 is the year of the pig. We have enjoyed creating lots of art work and trying to to write in Mandarin.
