The children have been learning about Poppy Scotland. They created these wonderful pieces of art where they made silhouettes and designed a bright and bold background.
They learned about a technique called Pointillism to design their Poppies.
Today we got to visit the new school Library for the first time. The class enjoyed being able to read for fun.
Primary 6 visited the home economics department and met some of the teachers. They learned how to make a stir fry. They met the French teacher who talked about French cuisine.
Today’s lesson in mandarin! We learned all about China’s relationship with the colour red and it’s importance in Chinese New Year. We also leaned other colours through games and a colouring activity.
Primary have been learning how to maintain positive friendships and relationships with others. They discussed the importance of kindness and used role play to demonstrate how other’s may feel. Finally they designed kindness vouchers that they can give to others to brighten up their day.
Primary 6 have been very busy since returning to school.

The children have explored their rights and worked together to agree upon the most relevant for the class. They then voted for which design they wanted on their wall. Here is a photo of our Class Charter.
Primary 5 had another good year at Cross Arthurlie and despite a period of learning from home, they’ve shown resilience and confidence by bouncing back. We look forward to seeing everyone back for Primary 6.
We have started our new Modern Languages topic where we will be learning a variety of new vocabulary that can be used when visiting a French Café.
We will learn how to order food, use Euros to pay for our items, share our food and drink preferences and give reasons for our likes and dislikes. We will be building sentences and our confidence when writing and speaking in French.
Before our classroom transforms into a French Café, we started to learn the basic vocabulary for food and drink. Our pronunciation is very good and we have been able to revise Literacy and English elements, such as adjectives and articles, whilst learning another language.
We have been playing lots of games to revise the vocabulary, such as interactive wordsearches, writing on the tables to build sentences, hangman, and pairs.
A huge well done to all pur P5.2 pupils, and their families, for working through a second lockdown. We are all very glad to be back at school to bounce back into our learning.
All pupils were gifted a bouncy ball on the first day back and enjoyed a fun morning playing playground games and socialising with their friends in the fresh air and sunshine. We are going to make the most of the rest of P5.
