We used a candle in a bowl of water and covered it with a plastic cup. \u00a0Fire needs three things to burn; <strong>oxygen<\/strong>, <strong>fuel<\/strong> and <strong>heat<\/strong>. These three things make up the fire triangle which you can see below.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-1111\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/stem\/files\/2017\/11\/fire-triangle.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"189\" height=\"188\" \/><\/p>\n<p>If one of them is taken away, the fire is put out. By putting the cup over the candle, the oxygen is taken away from the fire so it goes out! But\u2026 it doesn\u2019t go out straight away.
