Tennis 🥎

We have been improving our hand eye co-ordination to hit a tennis ball using a racket.  After practising by hitting to a target we moved on to thinking about controlling our return across the net to ensure we keep the ball on the court.

Keep up the great effort Primary 5.

Football – EUROS funday ⚽️

Our active schools coordinator Chris Rose organised a football taster session to ‘kick off’ the EUROS. We had lots of fun moving around all the groups and working with the other primary five class.

Maths

We have been learning to compare and order fractions, find equivalent and simplify fractions.

We reinforced our learning through games.

We enjoyed using the BeeBots to give electronic commands and watch to assess if our directions were correct. We learned to write directions using angles and compass points.

French Cafe 🥐🥪🧃

We have been learning about French food and drinks through our French Cafe topic.
We loved writing in French on the desk as well as matching the correct picture to the word.
We hope we can use these words in the future to order in a French restaurant 🥐🥪🧃

Easter Eggs 🥚🐰

On our last day of term 2, we had an Easter egg competition – we designed characters and patterns and then went up on the grass to roll them. We loved creating unique designs and having fun with our friends.

Check out our AMAZING designs 🎨

Collage Birds 🦜

We used a range of materials to create a bird using different textures and techniques. We learned techniques like cross hatching, layering and fringing to recreate a bird’s feathers. We loved sharing our ideas and talking with our friends.

STEM – Bridges

We have been learning about different types of bridges.
We complete some research in groups and recorded our findings on a Jamboard on Google Classroom.

Then we used a variety of materials to create our own bridges across the ‘River Clyde’

Numeracy

We have been using number talks to share our learning and explain our strategies and solutions with others.

We have been exploring the language of maths to help us solve word problems.

We have been enjoying learning about co-ordinates. We played the game battleships to practice our skills in identifying and plotting    co-ordinates.

STEM – Castles 🏰

We applied our knowledge of attachment techniques to complete a number of challenges.
First we created ‘the tallest tower.’

Then we created a free standing castle wall.

Finally we created a complete castle focusing on including the features of a castle such as drawbridge, turret, battlement, portcullis and arrow loops.
