Art & Design

We have been learning a new art technique –  Japanese Suminagashi – paper marbling. The word Suminagashi translates to ‘floating ink.’ We mixed a range of inks with water to create our own marbling designs.

Look at the smiles and amazement on our faces as the colours swirled around and then the ink transferred onto our paper. We can’t wait to use these as a backdrop on our ‘Work that makes us feel proud’ wall.

Spreading our Wings after Lockdown 💛

We read the story ‘Ahmed and the Feather Girl’ about a special little girl who was set free by her new friend. We thought about our recent experience of lockdown and related this to the UNCRC Rights of the Child.

We then learned a variety of different watercolour techniques that we used to create a unique colourful feather.

The next day we arrived at school to find all our feathers had joined together to make one big set of wings! We are so happy we can finally spread our wings after lockdown and spend some quality time together in school. 💛🌈

First week back

We’ve had a busy first week back, full of lots of outdoor learning, art and focusing on talking about how we feel about being back at school and all our new routines.

Outdoor Learning

STEM Catapult challenge – we worked in small groups using a range of materials to design and make a catapult. We tested our designs to see how successful we were.

Art – Colour Mixing

We have been learning about the colour wheel. We enjoyed mixing the primary colours to create the secondary colours.
