Gymnastics

On Wednesday we had our first gymnastics lesson of the term. We have a number of talented gymnasts in our class who  demonstrated their skills to the class. During our lesson we worked on balances and rolls.

BAE Systems

Today we took part in a  workshop at Barrhead High School organised by BAE SYSTEMS, RAF and Royal Navy. This was a STEM workshop with the focus being Magnetism and Electromagnets. We also learned how these organisations  employ many people in the country and that many more females are now choosing careers in engineering than in the past.

Barrhead High HT Visit

This morning we enjoyed a visit to our class from Mrs Johnson, headteacher from Barrhead High.  Mrs Johnson shared the values of the school and lots of helpful information about school life at Barrhead High such as timetables and extra curricular activities. She also emphasised the importance of having a growth mindset in order to become resilient and successful learners.

Anderson Shelters

Primary 7 were tasked with a homework challenge to create an Anderson Shelter from materials they had it home. Everyone put in a tremendous effort and demonstrated great creativity. We invited Primary 5 to our class to show off our fabulous work. Primary 5 were very impressed by our creations. Well done P7! 🌟

The Adventures of the Cuddly Toy

Primary 7 have been busy creating  stories for a young audience. We planned our stories around a cuddly toy who comes to life. We then wrote our stories, edited them and word processed them before visiting Primary 1 to share them with. Our P1 audience gave us excellent feedback on our work.

Children in Need

Our House Captains did a great job leading us in today’s fun. We all visited the gym hall to take part in activities such as Beat the Pudsey Goalie, and the parachute. We then visited the toy and book sale to spend our money on previously loved games, toys and books. In the afternoon our House Captains shared a presentation and facts about the good work that Children in Need does. Thank you all for your kind donations.  Article 31

Book Week Scotland

Today Primary 7 had the pleasure of visiting Mrs Brown and the pupils of Primary 2 to join them in their celebrations around Book Week Scotland. We had a lovely session reading to the younger pupils. Each of the Primary 2 children had brought in their favourite story book from home to share. Primary 7 enjoyed reading some familiar stories and old favourites that they had enjoyed when they were younger. Article 39.

BHS Presentation

Today we started our transition, to Barrhead High school, programme with an online Social Studies lesson. The lesson was led by Mrs Buchan and two S1 pupils. In the lesson we learned about Children’s Rights and  the story of a girl named Malala Yousafzai who campaigns for the rights of all girls around the world to have an education,  having herself faced discrimination when growing in up in Pakistan.  (ARTICLE 2 and 4)
