Today we watched Safer Internet Day 🎥 films.
We discussed a range of scenarios and decided if they were okay, not okay, not sure about this, it depends or it’s fine.
One scenario we explored was. You decide to share a funny photo of your friend to a group chat, even though you know they don’t like the photo. This was great at stimulating lots of discussion in the class.
Later in the week we watched the BBC ‘Free to Be’ online clip and discussed why it is important to have the freedom and confidence to be yourself online, not to worry about other people’s opinions and realise that a lot of what people post is only the good parts of a day. We discussed we should not compare ourself to others or allow negative comments to make us sad.
We used an equality thermometer to place different people like a doctor, politician, farmer, child and teacher. We discussed who was the most important person online. The children worked hard to decide the importance but soon realised we all have equal importance online.
Keep posted to see what we discover about the internet and keeping safe as the week continues.
