Well done to everyone for such a lovely evening. It was great to see all the lovely outfits and to see everyone looking their best. Below are a few pics of a memorable evening!
Fire Safety Visit 👨🚒 🔥 🧯 🚒
This week we enjoyed a visit from staff at our local fire station who came in to speak to us about fire safety in the home. They explained the dangers of fire hazards such as leaving chargers plugged in too long and had many important messages for us. Afterwards we were given the chance to go outside and look at the fire engine and learn how the appliance works. We even got the opportunity to try out the hose!
Australia 🇦🇺
Today we have been working in groups to research information about the different Australian states. We created a jigsaw to present the information we found. We will present our finished posters to each other next lesson.
Link to China!
Today the P7s are sharing their knowledge of Chinese with students from China. We were able to share their posters and the children from China told us some stories in English. They also shared some tradition food and showed us how they made it.
DNA Bracelets
P7 have been learning about the base pairs that make up DNA. we made bracelets to represent different segments of animals and fruit.
DNA Bracelets
P7 are learning about the DNA basepairs adenine, guanine, cytosine and thymine. Also known as A, T, C, G. They made bracelets and twisted them to make a DNA double helix.
Flipanim!
P7 are looking at an online flip book as part of their animation lessons. There are some creative animation made with great drawings. If you want to try at home then use flipanim.com.
Chromosomes and why we look similar to our parents.
P7 are learning about inheritance and what makes us look like our parents. We used a fictitious creature known as a Reebop to explain how chromosomes carry characteristics but also create variation. The paper strips were the chromosomes and had “coding” on them.
We understand that we get one chromosome from our mother and one from our father meaning we look similar but not exactly like our parents.
Grow a Fiver
Today was our big sale to mark the end of our Grow a Fiver project! I’m delighted to share that every group made a profit. Our winning group was the Mug Bugs who made a magnificent £86 profit. Our combined class total raised a tremendous £227.
Well done to Primary 7 for working so well on this project and for showing such great teamwork and creativity.
PE Visit
On Wednesday morning we had a trip to Barrhead High to visit the PE department as part of our transition programme. We had the choice of taking part in Basketball or Gymnastics. We had a great session and we all worked hard to develop our skills.
