Mandarin
Today we learned how to write our names in Mandarin and the Chinese meaning for our name.
World Book Day
Books, books and more books 📚
Everyone was looking the part as we celebrated World Book Day dressed as our favourite book characters.
We listened to a masterclass from Diary of a Wimpy Kid author Jeff Kinney to inspire us to write our own comic books.
We shared stories with our buddies in Primary One and listened to our teachers reading some of our favourite stories aloud.
Then we linked our learning in Science to explore Charles Darwin’s book ‘Origin of Species.’ We found that an author can explain complex scientific theories to children using pictures. We learned about the terms ‘evolution’ and ‘adaptations’
Mandarin
We have been learning Mandarin this term. We have learned about Chinese festivals and foods. We also got to try using chop sticks.
Science – Sound Waves
We have been exploring how sound waves travel through solids, liquids and gases.
We made our own gongs using string and a fork to investigate how sound travels through solids.
We used rice to demonstrate how sounds waves vibrate. We investigated different sounds by clapping our hands, banging a drum, hitting a triangle & playing music through a speaker.
