Numeracy
We have been learning how to halve numbers, tell the time and calculate using money. We will use time and money in the future, so that is way we are learning it now.
We also learned the symbols to represent ‘greater than’ and ‘less than’.
We had fun learning to measure. We enjoyed measuring parts of our body using centimetres.
We learned fractions by halving and quartering pizzas made out of plasticine.
Art
We did some cross-curricular work in Art to link up with our Social Studies topic. We used coffee to stain paper to make it look old.
Health and Wellbeing
We have been learning about different types of food. We learned that there is a lot of sugar in fizzy drinks.
Mandarin
We have been learning about Chinese traditions and characters. The Rooster represents 2017. The year that most of our class were born in (2010) is Year of the Tiger.
Social Studies
We worked in teams to sort toys from the past and toys we play with today. Then we created a PowerPoint about old toys.
We investigated old objects and tried to work out what people in the past would have used them for.
We shared our first memories and created a timeline.
Literacy
We learned about sound patterns in poems. We tried to create sound effects to go with the words in the poem When the Wind Blows by John foster.
PE
We have been learning how to throw and catch. We also have had an opportunity to learn other sports that we haven’t done before.
