Celebrating 🥳 Our Achievements

We love to hear all about each other’s achievements outside of school.

Anna shared her knowledge about horse riding, Cadence has just moved up a level in ice skating, Ryan demonstrated his drumming skills, Jack confidently explained how you play golf and Taylor and Molly demonstrated their skills and knowledge about kickboxing.

Investigating 3D Shapes

We have been revising the properties of 3D shapes and learning about some new shapes such as a triangular prisim, tetrahedron, pentagonal prisin, heptagonal prisim and hexagonal prisim.

We investigates each shape to discover the faces, edges and vertices.

To make sure we really understood the properties we made each shape using straws, tooth picks, cardboard and plastic.

We applied our new knowledge  of 3D shapes to find each shape in the environment.

Chinese New Year 🧧

Mandarin

We have been enjoying Mandarin lessons this term and can now say ni hao hello and zài jiàn goodbye.

We lnvestigate some Chinese New Year traditions like giving even amounts of money in red envelopes 🧧.                                                                 During close reading tasks we discovered that eating noodles represents a long life and other names for Chinese New Year are the Spring Festival or Lunar New Year.  We explored some Chinese flowers markets and  watched the traditional dragon dance using the Virtual Reality headsets.

🍵🥔🥔Food and Textile Technology

Over the last few weeks we have used a range of simple food preparation techniques when making shortbread and potato and leek soup. We used a range of equipment like knives and potato peelers. We also learnt about weaving using needles and wool.  As a class we decided to organise an event to show our friends and family our new skills.  We created a Google Doc poster with the details of our event and started organising what we would do.  In dance we have been learning the steps for the Canadian Barn dance, the Gay Gordon’s and the Dashing White Sergeant.  We decided our guests could begin the event by learning the dance steps and joining in with us.
