We have been learning about the work of the Poppy Scotland charity. This week there were poppies on sale in school. Unfortunately we were able to go round classes with the collection tins, but we had several tins placed around the school, so children could make donations safely. We hope the money we raise will help the charity.
In class, we watched video clips from Poppy Scotland, made notes and organised our notes into posters and decorative poppies. We made wreaths from tissue paper and created poppy artwork using chalk and charcoal.
We learned about the poem In Flanders Fields and we are going to be writing our own remembrance poems.
We hope you like our classroom display – we even made the letters for it ourselves. If you look closely at the bottom, you can see little wooden crosses.
