We investigated lungs and found out that our lungs make up one of the largest organs in our body.  They work with our respiratory system to allow us to take in fresh air, get rid of stale air and talk.  We are all very good at that!

Our lungs are protected by our rib cage so it makes it hard to feel them but we can see them in action when we put our hands on our chest.

We tried to create the inside of a lung showing the two large tubes (bronchi or bronchus) and the tiniest tubes called bronchioles using straws and toothpicks.  We decided to use raisins at the end of the bronchioles to make the teeny tiny air sacs called alveoli.

We really know lots about the human body now.
