Scale: in and outside of the Classroom!

Over the last few weeks Primary 7/2 have been learning about scale. This week they were able to apply their learning to measure and construct real life models from scale drawings. Later in the week they had a visit from Fleming, the company who are building our new nursery. The children learned about the different jobs that use scale as well as the new technology they use to measure, including VR headsets and lasers!

Happy Halloween!

Yesterday, Primary 7/2 were learning about the origins of Halloween and where our traditions come from. Next they them took part in one, working in groups to create pumpkin lanterns. Later, these lanterns lit the classroom as pupils shared their superb spooky stories!

Ration Recipes, Yum!

Before the holidays Primary 7/2 combined Social Studies with Technologies and did some baking from World War 2. The class researched recipes from the time and found cakes that were made from rations which included some interesting ingredients such as tea. Next the pupils weighed the ingredients and following the recipe baked the cakes. Lastly they got a chance to try their creations which resulted in a mixed response!

Anderson Shelters

As part of our learning about World War 2 Primary 7/2 have created their own Anderson Shelters. Using the materials provided they have all came up with clever ways to make their shelters look realistic and disguise them from planes flying overhead.

Heart Start

Today Primary 7/2 learned what to do if someone has a cardiac arrest, focusing on CPR and rescue breaths. They then had the chance to put their learning into action, assessing each other’s response. They all did fantastically, following the steps perfectly under pressure.
