Last week the children were creating bridges and castles. We looked up the squinty bridge ( Clyde Arc) and Stirling Castle. Quite a few of the children recognised the bridge.
\n<\/span><\/p>\n


\nSo this week we decided we would go and explore our own local environment.
\nWe had a think about what we needed to do to keep us safe when we are out a walk.<\/p>\n

\u201c we need to hold hand & listen\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201dwatch the roads\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201d walk nice\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201d have fun\u201d
\nFirst of all we passed the spider park and continued towards the forest where we could hear the water so we went to explore and we found our very own bridge! \u201ccan we pick up sticks and watch them go under bridge?\u201d<\/p>\n

The children had fun playing Pooh sticks – throwing their sticks and running to the other side to watch for their stick coming. We then walked further along and found an even bigger bridge.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201c it\u2019s so big I can\u2019t see over\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe cars go over this one\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI can hear the train\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cMy house is up there and there\u2019s another bridge\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

It was now getting close to lunch time and it was time to head back the children were using great listening skills and road safety and\u00a0 <\/span>we spotted lsome more familiar landmarks Williamwood high school\u00a0 <\/span>and\u00a0 <\/span> Bonnyton House. They were also intrigued by the black and white cat.<\/span><\/p>\n

Today the children have been busy using their gross motor skills and imaginations to build bridges similar to those they have seen in our local \u00a0environment. \u00a0The children shared their thoughts and ideas, and used mathematical language to describe how their towers were going to look. They had great concentration and problem solving skills \u00a0to ensure they would stay up and connect.<\/span><\/p>\n

Some of the children chose to create their own bridge.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am going to make a bridge for cars\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201dLook how high it is\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI have 6 cars on mine\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201d\u201cI will make one for people\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
