It\u2019s been a very creative few weeks in our woodwork area! We decided we would focus on independence and free choice and let our creativity and imagination flow!
\nBy choosing which materials and tools we would like to use, we demonstrated the ability to make a choice. \u00a0Through discussions with others, we shared reasons for making our choices.

\n\u201cI\u2019m using the elastic bands. \u00a0I like to stretch them and I like the different colours. \u00a0I can show it to my brother\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201dI like this one. \u00a0We use it so we don\u2019t hurt our fingers\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201dI like the beads. \u00a0I choosed rainbow colours\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201dI\u2019m making a taxi like this one. \u00a0We need a big bit and a wee bit for the top. \u00a0And we need an orange light on the top like a real taxi.\u201d<\/p>\n

Working both independently and with others, we used our curiosity and imagination and shared our thoughts and ideas.

\u201cI\u2019m making a helicopter. \u00a0It has a big bit at the top that makes it fly. \u00a0You need to use the big nails cos the wee ones don\u2019t go through the wood and it will fall off\u201d.
\n\u201cI\u2019m making a plane. \u00a0What are you making?\u201d \u00a0\u201cA plane too. A red one\u201d. \u201cYou need a big bit at the bottom and a wee bit\u00a0on the top for the wings. \u00a0Look like me\u201d. \u00a0\u201cOk this bit?\u201d \u201cYes. And you need to put the big nails in.\u201d
\nAs we grow in confidence, we are sharing our knowledge and experience with our friends and supporting and encouraging them when they are making their models. We are beginning to assess risk when using the tools and can discuss how to use them safely.

\n\u201cI want to make the same as you\u201d. \u201cOk I\u2019ll show you. \u00a0We use this, you need to watch you don\u2019t squash your fingers!. \u00a0\u201cIs this the right bit\u201d. \u201cYes look it\u2019s the same size\u201d. \u00a0\u201cThen you use this and put it on the end so it\u2019s smooth and you don\u2019t get a skelf\u201d. \u201cI got a skelf one time. \u00a0It was really sore and my mummy putted a plaster on it\u201d. \u201cYou need to use this hammer for this bit. \u00a0You need to hit it hard. Like this\u201d. \u201cOk. It\u2019s noisy\u201d. \u201cWatch you don\u2019t hit your fingers cos it will be sore\u201d.<\/p>\n

At Cart Mill we are very creative, \u00a0imaginative and love to plan, design, and construct fabulous models! We are able to apply our knowledge and experience across a wide range of learning experiences adding breadth, depth and challenge to our learning!<\/p>\n

Some of us are able to plan our models in advance, while others prefer to use our models to draw afterwards. \u00a0We do this in our design book so that we can keep a record of what we have made and to share our ideas and fabulous models with our friends! \u00a0\u00a0Aren\u2019t we creative being able to plan, design and create our wonderful models!<\/p>\n
