Today we had a very exciting delivery in our nursery! The children were very excited to see what was inside the special box. It\u2019s time to learn about\u2026 the life cycle of a butterfly \ud83e\udd8b<\/p>\n

First we had a little look at our new caterpillar friends, which sparked some interesting and thought provoking questions.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a> \"\"<\/a> \"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s like a teeny wee baby worm. Is it a caterpillar?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWhy does it have a web around it?\u201d<\/p>\n

We talked about all the different stages the caterpillar goes through\u2026<\/p>\n

\u201cThey go into a cocoon first. That helps them get all cosy and grow big and strong\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen they hang upside down, that\u2019s when they are a chrysalis. They\u2019re nearly ready to pop out then!\u201d<\/p>\n

The children showed great curiosity, and came up with some interesting suggestions on what we thought might happen next, using the pictures as clues.<\/p>\n

\u201cMaybe the big box is for when they\u2019re butterflies. Because they will need lots of space\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThey might want some snacks too\u201d<\/p>\n

Seeing how living things grow and develop over time with proper care in our very own playrooms is a great opportunity \u00a0for our children to explore and develop life skills.
