Jumping requires power and balance and children can develop this skill by showing they can bend their knees when landing, having their head up looking straight forward and using their arms to balance if they need to.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/er\/cartmill\/files\/2023\/04\/1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-24187\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/er\/cartmill\/files\/2023\/04\/1-300x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The children have been demonstrating their jumping skills from a height over a low beam.<\/p>\n<p>They then increased the difficulty and the height of the beam and assessed whether they felt safe or not and as their confidence grew, the children were encouraged to jump from a greater height.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/er\/cartmill\/files\/2023\/04\/2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-24188\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/er\/cartmill\/files\/2023\/04\/2-300x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The children were able to guide their learning and decide how high they were able to feel comfortable and felt safe to jump over.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/er\/cartmill\/files\/2023\/04\/4-rotated.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-24190\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/er\/cartmill\/files\/2023\/04\/4-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/er\/cartmill\/files\/2023\/04\/5.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-24191\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/er\/cartmill\/files\/2023\/04\/5-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Some children then decided to use their problem solving skills and different materials to create a seesaw with equipment from the obstacle course.
