We started by using pens and acetate paper to explore what kind of lines we could make. Some of our younger children used their knowledge of shapes whilst mark making.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_23277\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-23277\" style=\"width: 150px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/er\/cartmill\/files\/2023\/01\/1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-23277\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/er\/cartmill\/files\/2023\/01\/1-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-23277\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">&#8220;Circles&#8221;<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"attachment_23278\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-23278\" style=\"width: 150px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/er\/cartmill\/files\/2023\/01\/77-rotated.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-23278\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/er\/cartmill\/files\/2023\/01\/77-150x150.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-23278\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">&#8220;Dot, dot, dot&#8221;<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Some of our older children explored drawing fast and slow, sharing with each other what happened as their pen made lines across the paper.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_23279\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-23279\" style=\"width: 150px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/er\/cartmill\/files\/2023\/01\/6.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-23279\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/er\/cartmill\/files\/2023\/01\/6-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-23279\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Look, when we go faster and faster, the line gets messy, messy messy.&#8221;<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Others enjoyed exploring the different types of lines they could make.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_23280\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-23280\" style=\"width: 150px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/er\/cartmill\/files\/2023\/01\/9.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-23280\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/er\/cartmill\/files\/2023\/01\/9-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-23280\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">&#8220;I am going to try making boxes like in the book.&#8221;<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"attachment_23281\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-23281\" style=\"width: 150px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/er\/cartmill\/files\/2023\/01\/30.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-23281\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/er\/cartmill\/files\/2023\/01\/30-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-23281\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">&#8220;My lines are loopy lines.&#8221;<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>We even discovered that we could turn our lines\u00a0 into different shapes to create pictures!<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_23284\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-23284\" style=\"width: 150px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/er\/cartmill\/files\/2023\/01\/100.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-23284\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/er\/cartmill\/files\/2023\/01\/100-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-23284\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">&#8220;Look! My lines have made a picture! I have done my family.&#8221;<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>We had so much fun making lines with pens, we decided to explore a different way of making lines, playdough! This time the children were using their knowledge of the different types of lines, using descriptive words to share what they had made with each other.
