We started by asking \u201cWhat is an inventor?\u201d<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u201dIt\u2019s someone who builds lots of stuff.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cThey make robots.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cAn inventor makes stuff.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Then we learned about Henry Faulds who invented finger printing. We discussed what we know about fingerprints, what they can be used for and what makes each one unique.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u201cPolice use them to catch baddies.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201dWe use them for mysteries.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201dThere\u2019s hundreds of little lines.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201dIt means you\u2019re not the same.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Then we used our ink and made our own prints.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/er\/cartmill\/files\/2022\/11\/D92F8DDA-4A22-4562-BB12-D46E67937FA8.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-22895\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/er\/cartmill\/files\/2022\/11\/D92F8DDA-4A22-4562-BB12-D46E67937FA8-300x300.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We also examined them through the telescope to see all the lines and whirls better.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_22896\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-22896\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/er\/cartmill\/files\/2022\/11\/B8427035-0F0C-4A4B-AB6D-ADF698E5D752.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-22896 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/er\/cartmill\/files\/2022\/11\/B8427035-0F0C-4A4B-AB6D-ADF698E5D752-300x300.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-22896\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">\u201cI\u2019m making a picture with mine.\u201d<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Next we learned about Sir Alexander Graham Bell, the inventor of the telephone and had a great time making our own phones.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/er\/cartmill\/files\/2022\/11\/DF9ADB81-CB30-4BA3-BA4D-60D7A760E128.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-22897\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/er\/cartmill\/files\/2022\/11\/DF9ADB81-CB30-4BA3-BA4D-60D7A760E128-300x300.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We discovered that the string had to be pulled as tight as possible or the sound will not travel to the receiver.
