We had great fun digging them out using the forks, trowels and also using our hands. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cI found a red one!\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cI found a white one!\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u201dit feels cold\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/er\/cartmill\/files\/2022\/08\/77FC5C2B-2310-43C2-9A7C-BB103A8078D0.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-21939\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/er\/cartmill\/files\/2022\/08\/77FC5C2B-2310-43C2-9A7C-BB103A8078D0-300x300.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>After harvesting \u00a0\u201clots and lots\u201d of potatoes we took them inside for a wash.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/er\/cartmill\/files\/2022\/08\/736D42F2-E758-4A3F-B20B-D5E014FD27A2.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-21940\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/er\/cartmill\/files\/2022\/08\/736D42F2-E758-4A3F-B20B-D5E014FD27A2-300x300.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The potatoes were all different sizes so we decided to compare them to discover which was the biggest and which was the smallest. We were even able to line them up in order of size.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cI found a huge one.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Then we decided to weigh the potatoes and experiment with different ways we could balance the scales, developing our mathematical language.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cThat\u2019s too heavy.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cThat\u2019s not balanced.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/er\/cartmill\/files\/2022\/08\/A9397CB2-8A5E-4C2B-8B3E-B553D98CCBF6.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-21941\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/er\/cartmill\/files\/2022\/08\/A9397CB2-8A5E-4C2B-8B3E-B553D98CCBF6-300x300.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">All this hard work made us really hungry so we washed them and popped them in the microwave to cook.
