We looked at pictures of volcanoes erupting in some of our books we have in the science area. To investigate more and gather more information we watched some videos of live volcanoes on our promethean board. We were amazed at how the lava could \u00a0shoot out the top and then flow all the way down to the bottom.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/er\/cartmill\/files\/2022\/03\/8C6DE5C4-9632-4977-BDCA-AC0EFFE00E3D.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-20539\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/er\/cartmill\/files\/2022\/03\/8C6DE5C4-9632-4977-BDCA-AC0EFFE00E3D-300x300.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt looks like a fire river\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWow! It explodes like fireworks!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>We learned some fascinating facts during our learning.<\/p>\n<p>We now know that volcanoes can be active,dormant or extinct.<\/p>\n<p>The liquid inside a volcano is called magma but when the volcano erupts the liquid becomes lava.<\/p>\n<p>\ud83d\udd25\ud83d\udd25\ud83d\udd25\ud83d\udd25Lava is very , very hot!\ud83d\udd25\ud83d\udd25\ud83d\udd25\ud83d\udd25<\/p>\n<p>We thought it would be a great idea to make our very own erupting volcano. We used chose some art materials such as paper, paint and glue to create our volcano and even added some dinosaurs to make them run from the lava!<\/p>\n<p>Now it was time for us to become Super Scientists!\ud83d\udc69\u200d\ud83d\udd2c\ud83e\uddd1\ud83c\udffd\u200d\ud83d\udd2c<br \/>\nWe put on our safety goggles and gloves and some children thought it would be safer to put on some pretend \u2018lava boots\u2019 so our feet wouldn\u2019t burn!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/er\/cartmill\/files\/2022\/03\/4F02A860-F46D-4BDD-B48B-87D3B5E27DC6.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-20542\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/er\/cartmill\/files\/2022\/03\/4F02A860-F46D-4BDD-B48B-87D3B5E27DC6-225x300.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We listened carefully to our instructions as we had to measure out our science ingredients- 5 tablespoons of bicarbonate of soda<br \/>\n1 tablespoon of easing up liquid<br \/>\n1 cup of vinegar<br \/>\nSome red food colouring ( to show the lava is hot!)<a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/er\/cartmill\/files\/2022\/03\/7361215A-01D9-48ED-918A-46EC7440995A.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-20545\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/er\/cartmill\/files\/2022\/03\/7361215A-01D9-48ED-918A-46EC7440995A-300x300.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>We added the washing up liquid to the \u00a0bicarbonate of soda and added the colouring then gave them a good mix together.<br \/>\nNow \u00a0for the fun part!
