Today in the home room the children were retelling stories with puppets and props.
They chose ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’ and created a back ground for the puppets.
The children had a look for the book but couldn’t find it so they decided to search the internet for an audio version.
“Lets look on you tube, I’ve seen it on there before”
While the story played in the background the children all chose a character to act out parts of the story.
“uh oh! long wavy grass ”
“We’ve got to go through it”
“uh oh. A cave! A narrow gloomy cave.”
“We’ve got to go through it”
“ohh noo there’s the bear”
It is hard to believe that we are now at Week 6 of our transition topic and we hope you have enjoyed the activities.
Can you believe it’s nearly the end of June? Where did the time go?
We have enjoyed seeing you all and we have one more preschool group tomorrow. It has been lovely to be able to say hello and goodbye to you all and we hope you have a lovely Summer before starting school in August.
Week 6 Transition Topic
We are at Week 5 of our transition topic – where has the time gone? I think by now you will all be brilliant at retelling the story. We hope you are enjoying the activities at home and we can’t wait to see you all when you come for your visit this week and next week.
It is hard to believe that this is Week 4 of our transition topic and we hope you are having fun with the activities.
Soon we will be inviting you to visit Cart Mill and we can do some of these activities together.
Welcome to Week 2 of our Transition to School project “We’re Going on a Bear Hunt”. We hope all of our children going to school have enjoyed the week 1 activities and are looking forward to this week’s learning.
Please do not feel that you must complete all of the activities, just select the ones that you and your child will enjoy. Please remember to share your learning @cartmillcentre and use #ERCgettingreadyforP1
We are very aware that our traditional transition programme will be greatly missed by children and parents alike this year. It is a special time for children to start thinking about school and the great adventure that lies ahead. We hope that you enjoy this transition programme based on the hugely popular book “We’re Going on a Bear Hunt” by Michael Rosen.
The Moving On programme has been developed together with colleagues from Glenwood Family Centre, Our Lady of the Mission Primary School, Thornliebank Nursery and Primary School, Giffnock Nursery and Primary School and Braidbar Nursery and Primary School. This programme is appropriate for all of our pre-school children, even if they will be attending a primary school outwith the neighbourhood.
The Moving On programme reflects some of the experiences we would typically be doing in nursery this term. They are based on the story “We’re Going on a Bear Hunt” by Michael Rosen which can be accessed online.
Each week until the end of term we will share an activity sheet by email and on our website which has some suggested activities. We encourage you and your child to engage in some of the activities throughout the week and keep a record of this learning however, as with all home learning activities please do what works for your family and in ways which interest your child.
