The children have been carrying out some experiments. Yesterday they tried mixing mento’s with coke to make a volcano…it didn’t work!
Next they decided to light the fire pit and toast some marshmallows. Sticky but yummy!
Then the decided to create their own Volcano. Bhavin and the other children are going to try bicarbonate of soda and vinegar tomorrow. I wonder what will happen.
Our lovely new nursery guests arrived today.
The children were happy to meet the caterpillars that will be with us until they retreat to their chrysalis and change into something beautiful. I wonder what that can be.
Some children were able to tell staff but we shall see if they are correct.
The boys and girls liked their little wriggly bodies and watched as they crawled up the sides of the container. They then collected paper and pens to draw a picture of our new friends.
Today Kaile asked if he could make a volcano.
Stephanie had purchased some vinegar and bicarbonate of soda and she brought it into the family centre. The children chatted abpot what they thought might happen. Some thought it would be bubbly otherssaid it would be like a big volcano. The children were asked to pour some vinegar into the cups then add the bicarbonate of soda.
It was fantastic with lots of pink coloured fizz.
The children used coke and mentos this time to make a volacano…that was even better.
Wow!! The bubbles and fizz rose high into the sky.
The best Volcano was the coke and mentos…whoop whoop!!
The children decided to change their outdoor learning space. They wanted to have a jungle outside. In the small world pits they put some animals, greenery and rocks for the animals to explore.
Other children wanted to make a fairy garden and decided to make fairy wands with lots of sparkles.
The children talked about rainbows and asked Zoe to make a rainbow. The children talked about the colours and became creative with one of our pallets. They made a rainbow singing pallet.
We also now have a number station and an exploration space with lots of items to help us explore our outdoor area.
