To celebrate Maths Week Scotland outdoors we decided to make an autumn number tuff tray. The boys and girls were counting the dots on the wooden discs and matching them up with the number hedgehogs using their problem solving and numeracy skills. The children then counted as a group out loud the number leafs in the correct order 1-20.
The boys and girls started pointing out all the different sizes of leafs there were, so we started comparing the sizes, the children put in order biggest/medium/smallest.
“This leaf is the smallest”
