We know that it is hard when you can’t come in to the centre and see your children playing so for the next couple of weeks, staff are going to showcase what is going on in their rooms and what the children are all up to during their day at Cart Mill. Today, some of the boys and girls took part in a French session with Val. Camembear, our slightly mischievous French bear came to visit the children. We discovered how to say hello bonjour and my name is Je m’appelle as well as goodbye au revoir. Please use these words at home with the children! Click on the link to see some of the French session in action.
From today we will be sharing the learning and play that is happening in our playrooms and in the outdoors. It is unfortunate that our parents and carers are not able to come inside and see what their child is learning but we hope to share some of that with you on our blog.
On Friday, we had our first Forest School session and it was muddy fun for all as you can see in these photos.
We are delighted that our well established Forest School Programme will begin this Friday with our first group of children whose parents have been notified. The aim is for all of our pre-school children to take part and if we can we will also include our 3 year old children.
At Cart Mill we are passionate about the outdoors and want all of our children to experience learning in a natural environment which is the benefit of Forest School. Children will develop their curiosity for the living world and their confidence will increase as they explore a new setting.

A great big well done to Val and Sarah Jane on their recent appointments to Acting posts within our Senior Leadership Team.
Val is our Acting Depute Head and Sarah Jane is our Acting Senior CDO. We wish them the very best as they begin their new leadership adventures.
Val and Sarah Jane join Helen, Nursery Teacher and Sharon, Head Teacher as Senior Leaders. We are here to support parents and carers in any way we can especially during this time when you cannot come into our centre.
We are so pleased to be fully open again and we have been amazed by the children’s confidence to come into our centre without their parent or carer. We thank all of our parents and carers for preparing the children so well.
Here is a link to our August Newsletter which we hope you will enjoy reading.
The team at Cart Mill are so excited about welcoming back our children and getting to know all of our new children this term. They have decided to introduce themselves to you with a short video. We can’t wait to see you all next week! 😃❤️🌈
Well, what a strange year we have had so far but, from next week, we will be welcoming you all to Cart Mill as we start another year with our returning children and a whole new year group too.
For those who don’t know me, I am Val, I can normally be found in the garden at Cart Mill as I love the outdoors! All the staff want to introduce themselves to you so you and your children can see who everybody is in the centre before you start. Over the next few days we will be posting short introductory clips of the staff. I have made a little video to give you some idea of what to expect when coming to Cart Mill and things that you might need to know.
Obviously you may have lots of other questions that we will be more than happy to answer, just contact the centre and we will be happy to help!
