All about Fiona

Hi everyone, hoping you’re all well and staying safe.  It’s my turn to tell you a little bit about me. I’ve loved reading last week’s Blogs and learning new things about my fabulous colleagues, what a talented bunch they are. I’ve a hard act to follow, so here goes!
I was born in South Ayrshire, a long time ago, and loved growing up by the seaside. I have an older brother (who annoyed me so much growing up, but we’re very close now), who lives in Sweden with his family, and a twin sister (I’m 6 minutes older and apparently the bossy one!)  Can you guess which one is me? My family say I have the chubbier face and most freckles. Would you look at that haircut!

I met my husband when I was at school, a long time ago. We’re blessed with 2 amazing children, Mark and Katie, who will be 19 and 16 next month (Katie says it’s 30 sleeps until her birthday. She has lots of plans. We’re going BIG , apparently, because you’re only 16 once!) I can’t believe how grown up they are. They’re such good company and have kept me going over the last few months. I’ve loved spending time together as a family. We’ve tried to keep each other entertained, and have had so much fun. Katie has been teaching me lots of dance routines, so Jump Start Johnny might have some competition!
I was a little bit stuck over what else to tell you about me, so my family decided we should do a quick fire quiz round..

Favourite colour : easy, red
Favourite food: Tricky as I can’t pick just one! pasta, pizza, crisps and chocolate ( Katie says I should really be healthier!)
Favourite drink: I’d better say water (my husband says that’s not true)
Hobbies: exercise (my children are laughing now) reading, spending time with family and friends. Hill walking, I managed to climb to the top of a Ben Nevis (had to get that in somewhere!) Oh and I love camping too. I can even pitch the tent myself! (Ok, well sometimes I need a teeny bit of help)
Favourite band: well I do love a boy band! Bros, Wham (told you I was old) and Take That. Gary is my favourite, in case you thought it was Robbie.
Achievements: I did a bungee jump once, I was terrified so I won’t be doing that again! I have a BA in Business and Administration and last year I completed my HNC Childhood Practice ( which was very hard as my brain doesn’t work as quickly as it used to) Mark says that’s the wrong answer. Obviously my family are my greatest achievement and I’m super proud of them (Phew, I think I saved that!)
What do I love the most? Easy, my family (brownie points now!) and my friends, I miss them so much.
What are you afraid of?: Ooh tricky. Definitely boats. I don’t like being in the sea, unless it’s paddling. I do love looking at it though and I would love to move back to the seaside when I’m older. (According to my lovely children that shouldn’t be be too long! They’re  very cheeky)
Best thing about lockdown?:  If there is a best thing, it’s being with my family.  (Mind you it’s sometimes  hard all being in the house all day every day!) Life had been hectic, so it’s been nice to press pause and recharge.
Worst thing about lockdown?  I miss family and friends. I’ve never gone more than 2 weeks without hugging my twin or mum. Virtual hugs aren’t the same. Fridge is always empty, even when the shopping has just been delivered! I love being outdoors so having to stay in has been challenging!
What have I learned during lockdown?: To be healthier, exercise more, appreciate family and friends and never take anything for granted. Oh and I need to brush up on my general knowledge as I always lose that round in our Zoom quizzes. (My family say I could practise/improve my cooking skills, again they’re very cheeky!)

Well that wasn’t too hard after all! I’ve had fun. We try to spend time doing quizzes together and with our family and  friends. It’s a great way to keep in touch. (This is where I remind my children we didn’t have the internet when I was growing up, which horrifies them as they couldn’t survive without WIFI) I must also learn to print off more photographs as I have over 8,000 on my phone!
I’m missing everyone very much and can’t wait to see you all soon. Take care, stay safe and have fun. Lots of love, Fiona xx
