The children have been enjoying the gingerbread man story and today they have baked their own gingerbread men. They enjoyed measuring and weighing all the ingredients and giving it a good mix. They then used the cutters to make the shape and placed them on the baking tray to go in the oven. Everyone is looking forward to decorating and taking them home tomorrow.
Today in the Literacy area we have been investigating sounds and rhymes. We used the smartboard to take turns listening to the animal themed words and identifying the initial sounds that matched the pictures.
“I think it’s c because you say cat”
“Is it p for pig?”
“E sounds like egg, it’s not cheese”
The children decided they wanted to play more games so we will try Rhyming Bingo later to work on our turn taking and listening skills.
We have also been building farmyard pens for Baa Baa Black Sheep as it is our Rhyme of the Week. This is great practice for our fine motor skills, as well as giving lots of creative role playing opportunities.
“I did a triangle fence!”
“Mine will just be a normal fence!”
Baa, baa, black sheep, have you any wool?
Yes sir, yes sir, three bags full!
One for the master,
And one for the dame,
One for the little boy
Who lives down the lane.
