Fun learning in the sun

It’s a lovely sunny day today so some of our learning is happening outside! We have been learning about parts of our body by drawing round our friends with chalk. We know wrist, hand, leg, ankle, hip, foot and head already!

Come and Play days

We have had lots of fun showing our parents and carers what we learn in nursery. They stayed and played with us and we showed them all the interesting resources we use every day.

Carolside’s STEM week

During the school’s special STEM fair, the nursery children chose to focus on water and its changing states. We investigated ice, flowing water and saw steam coming from warm water.

We also used our new Numicon resource to learn about numbers, and we had an engineering challenge where we had to use our building blocks to build the highest tower we could!

World Book Day

We had a great day dressing up as our favourite book characters for World Book Day! We even had a special visit from Mr Barron’s P6 class who read their favourite stories to us.

Financial Awareness week

The nursery children had a week of in depth money experiences to coincide with Financial Awareness week.  We looked at the different coins that make up our money and had a role play shop where the children were able to spend real money too!

Burns Night Celebrations

imageThe children are celebrating Burns Night by taking part in lots of different activities. We have tasted shortbread at snack time, made tartan weaving with paper, learned about what happens at a Burns Supper and danced to ceilidh music! imageimage

Christmas has arrived!

Christmas cheer has arrived in Carolside Nursery. We are busy preparing for the festive season, and learning at the same time!

We are estimating how many Lego bricks are in our baubles using our number skills.

In our Art areas we have been making and decorating salt dough items for our Christmas trees.

Poppy day

Children in the nursery have observed a two minute silence remembering the soldiers who gave their lives for us. We talked about why we wear poppies.
